That coin is of minimal numismatic value and contains a silver value of $2.58.
1966 Kennedy half dollars were made of 40% silver, so it does have some value above the face value of $0.50, but it's nothing rare or unusual (at least that I can see in the pictures).
Your coin is 40% silver as others have said. Unfortunately, it is considered a common coin and any value is based on the price of silver not collector value
It's Still a nice coin. You may want to try to find out where your parents got the coin, and why they saved it. That might be an interesting story that will add personal value to the coin. Many members on this forum have coins with family stories of connections (I do). They are not valuable to other collectors, but to us, they're priceless
@Landser
What happened with the photocopied/forged $50 notes you were asking about and trying to sell in the US Currency forum?
You should look up what the Secret Service does.
@Hemispherical The bills are real but I think I made a mistake uploading the photocopy...That photocopy was done years ago, the actual bills are in plastic protection. I thought that picture would be enough to estimate the value. I will upload new pictures of the bills out of the plastic so you can judge them.
Good idea.
@Landser....Welcome aboard.... Your Kennedy half dollar has no collector value... it is a nice coin and does contain silver as noted above. Can you also post a picture of the reverse? Cheers, RickO
