I Don't Think Any More Dates Would Fit On this Off Center Error Coin ...

Two dates and a partial date on the obverse and a mirror brockage date on the reverse.

Crazy Coin.

I understand the fascination with error coins but that is one ugly... whatever it is. Can you really call it a coin?

I assume there is a lot of added value due to the fact that it is so offcenter but still has a date (dates)?

Yes, Dated off centers are worth more than no date off centers.

Double Dated error coins always command a premium as do triple dated error coins.

That is a fantastic error... and I am not an error collector. I sure do like to see these though, and understand how such things happen..... Of course, the larger question is - How did they get out of the Mint? Yeah,..I know ... bags of coins... or lunch bags,.... ;) Cheers, RickO

Before the year 2002, companies like brinks got huge bags of coins to roll and they got to keep the rejects. This is by far the most common sense and logical explanation as opposed to some conspiracy theory which would make an employee a felon. Yes, of course, error coins have been smuggled out, but that is only a fraction of the legit ones.

Everything changed in 2002 when in order to keep the mint contract, they had to return the rejects. Also in 2002 the mint put in new equipment called riddlers to weed out the rejects. That is why major error coins past the year 2001 command a huge premium as they are ultra-rare.

I have and have seen numerous coins with 3 dates. Can't recall seeing 4 or more dates on a coin.
