I have the twin towers decal on my 2001 Silver Eagle , as a reminder, and a visual ; in the midst of my Dansco Album of them (Eagles).
A bitter reminder of the profound effect war mongers have on the rest of us.

How about a moment of silence for the hundreds of thousands who lost their lives after 9/11 because of 9/11?
Sorry but the terrorists and those that supported the terrorists deserve no moment of silence.

I was overseas at the time so I got a different perspective. My colleagues understood the implications and knew it would change life for everyone, but they did not have quite the personal stake in it that I did.

Hmmm....you mean Iraqi civilians?
I was not trying to invoke politics.
Feel free to at least extend your moment of silence to the THOUSANDS of U.S. citizens who lost their lives after 9/11. And if you can find the mercy, maybe a few nanoseconds for Iraqi and Afghani children... I mean, only if you can find it in you.
Go back a read what I said. I specifically mentioned "terrorists and those that support the terrorists". If you want to have a moment of silence for the terrorists, be my guest but don't expect me to join you.

After it happened I decided to take the day off and go fishing down in Galveston. I'll never forget how eerily silent everything seemed to be. No planes in the sky, streets were empty, we were the only ones stupid enough to go fishing... Fish weren't biting either.
Once maybe 5 years after I was flying from Anchorage to LA when they paused everybody at the Airport to remember the exact moment the 1st plane hit. That would of been about 5 am Alaska time, I was sleep walking at that time. Going through security screening at that moment. Strange how you can remember little thing like that. Then it hit me what day it was sort of brought a uneasy feeling in my gut. Never forget! Nice picture Bull!

I live 5 miles from Davis Monthan AFB. Seemingly there were hundreds of planes in the sky. Never heard a better sound in my life.
Not to send this thread further over a cliff, modern warfare usually seeks to reduce or avoid civilian casualties. Go back to WWII and civilians were direct or indirect targets.

Those two LOLs may be the most offensive thing I've ever seen on this board. Innocent life is innocent life.
"The Iraq Body Count project (IBC project), incorporating subsequent reports, has reported that by the end of the major combat phase up to April 30, 2003, 7,419 civilians had been killed, primarily by U.S. air-and-ground forces.[8][87]
It shows a total range of at least 183,535 – 206,107 documented civilian deaths from violence in Iraq through April 2019.[8] The continually updated IBC database page those numbers come from says: "Gaps in recording and reporting suggest that even our highest totals to date may be missing many civilian deaths from violence."
If you read the title line it is specific to the events of 9-11-01.
A lot of events happened after that day but we are stretching the bounds of the CU, OT tolerance to expand in that direction.
In the arms of the angels, I believe that the heart does go on.
Never really go tot talk about this openly, it really felt personal and in a split second I called my brother in Texas as I was in Alabama watching this unfold. In order to wake him up I said were at war.
I,ll never forget. One other thing as a graphic designer working on a fourth of July ad book for a local town, Thinking back on that day designing the cover,
I thought back to that morning
The photo of the Fireman in the dust with the flag was to be the cover of the book at their request,
I incorporated a few images in the rubble, they were the founding fathers of The United States.
Thats how much this event hurt us . U.S.A.

And 19 KIA during payback.

The terrorists didn't realize that the USA has the eye of the tiger. Never forget.
I love the song about the payback that Toby Kieth came out with!!!
I will spend today as I spend every 9-11.... Angry, occasionally weep, and feeling we haven't settled the score. 'Nuff said.

Who would’ve thought this thread could become contentious?

I surrender to flag wavers.
And now for a little numismatics...
This evening I stamped up 100 2019 nickels in honor of this, the 18th anniversary of that terrible day.

There are other forums to discuss that stuff on.
