Some recent finds

It’s been ages since I posted anything on the forum. Hopefully I can remember how things work!
Here are some finds from this year:

Gold:
18k ring. Nice and chunky. Weighs in at 8.41 grams.

Various silver items:
I think this is a napkin holder or something of the sort:

I don’t find many earrings, but here’s one.
I suppose I could have found more of them over the years, but they often slip through the scoop when detecting in water. If the water is somewhat deep, it’s so much hassle to recover such targets that I usually just let them go. Anything that goes through the scoop is too small to be a coin or a ring, so I figure I’m not losing out on too much. It’s usually a small screw, copper nail, bullet, or other random small piece of junk.
This earring was found in water, but luckily it stayed in the scoop (despite being small enough to fit through the holes).

A nice cufflink. I’ve found many cufflinks of lesser metals, but this is actually my first silver.

Silver coins are quite scarce, and especially the smaller ones require digging a lot of trash as there’s a ton of pulltabs and bottle tops in the same range. For these, depth is a much more important indicator than the target ID. They’re frequently too deep to even give a proper signal in the first place; I’ve found some this year that only gave a small change in the threshold hum that indicated that there might be something there, no real signal to speak of.
I find them mostly in soil that’s brutal on copper, but silver is usually fine.

Typical dug condition:

Here are the two nicest ones:
This one has exceptionally good detail. It must have been almost brand new when dropped:

This one has a bit more wear, but is still nice:

The season continues. Hoping for a few more finds. Another gold would be nice, but they’ve been scarce lately. We’ll see!
