Whoops, I did it again.....

It happens every now & then. I read some of the threads about a new issue, the Pride of Two Nations Set for instance......and then I get caught up in the novelty & enthusiasm of nailing a really popular and hot coin.
Now, I'm wondering what the heck I'm going to do with 5 sets. Oh yeah, now I remember - I'm going to end up selling them 5 years from now and maybe breaking even, maybe not.
What a hobby!

When silver hits $100, we all get even.
it took over 2 hours for the mint to sell the last 25 sets they had left. that's not a good sign. here is another bad sign, they are selling below issue price, and it cost a lot to ship these sets out

@coinpalice - yes, I know the drill, lol. Makes me crazy sometimes.
I knew it would happen.
Never ever go to the U.S. Mint site.......that's my motto.
Dimeman, I still have an "extra" gold Merc, lol.
I knew it would happen.
Can’t we do something like have the US Mint issue a Stop and Cease Order by the DOJ against the EBay seller and EBay. Maybe go and Confiscate the medal out of the Sellers Home! Arrest the Seller and whole Family! Maybe send them to a Black Ops Render Site and Water Board them for Punishment against the US Mint!
Years ago, I bought a couple of modern mint issues, the 2007 Jefferson's Liberty draped bust 1/2 oz. Gold coin, and the 2009 high relief Saint 1 oz. coin.
Glanced at them, stuck them in their capsules in the SDB (bulky mint boxes went to a closet) and rarely thought about them again.
Not fun for me, not interesting, and only pretty in a sterile, computerized way, might as well just look at a picture. They're coins, yes, but soulless, with no history or character to them.
I'm done buying anything younger than me, and only really care about pre-1815 coins any more.

I have a couple of large moving boxes full of mint issue coin sets from years ago when I used to buy them at issue...Most are cheaper now and have little to no collector interest. Even the set in the '90's with the cent with a phantom 'D' mm....You never even hear about that anymore - and I have one. So they sit and take up space. Cheers, RickO
SELL! Use that space for Dimes you buy from me!

@DIMEMAN... What a great idea.... I will get right on that... soon... in the winter...along with a long list of things I have promised myself to do on cold, snowy days...
Cheers, RickO
That was 1997, I was a young collector back then and I found one in circulation

Does anyone offer a "short" on new Mint Issues? If so then business could boom for everyone. A person could buy a ton from the Mint if they got their jollies that way.
Anyone with any reservations about anything could short the Coin(s) and still participate that way. The opening day would get a new flood of activity.
If nothing else this Chat Board would boom with Posts. Might even revitalize this entire Hobby. 🤣
I have an Apollo 5 ouncer that I’m having a hard time getting rid of without giving it away.
