HAPPY COLLECTING
Yep... not a good move....Needs some restoration...Cheers, RickO
My experience with marks from rubber band marks is, they NEVER go away.
They always come back!
I made that mistake many years ago with an inexpensive proof Franklin. Thanks for posting so others can learn.

What not to do I agree
Did the rubber band off gas and seep through the flip to make the discoloration?
Looks like it could be a PVC flip- double trouble.

I can't tell you how many coins I've had, or seen, with rubber band burns.
I'm sure there isn't even a rubber band lying in my safe or deposit boxes.....
It looks like Maria is a little happier after a bath !
I just wonder if it will stay like that or if the band marks will return.

Take a rubber band and stretch it a few times and then smell it. That's the smell of sulfur. When I was a teen in the early 1960's my father and I belonged to the Price George's County Coin Club in Maryland. A member there brought in a proof trade dollar that he kept in a small cardboard box with the coin packed in cotton. He kept the lid on the box with a rubber band. After a few years in a safe deposit box the coin had developed a black line across both sides of the coin that looked like it was drawn on with a sharpie marker. The coin was tragically ruined by a rubber band.
