1990-D Lincoln cent Double Die? I know, another Lincoln double die thread

But this one looks doubled to me. Your opinion is appreciated.

What you are seeing is not die doubling.
Notice that it is "flat" and has a "step-down" look.
This looks to me like "plating" doubling, or some form of mechanical doubling.
If you examine a lot of zinc-plated Lincolns, you will see this feature quite often.

Ghosting is fairly common on zinc cents, it's not a doubled die.

Not an uncommon phenomena on zinc cents... though that is certainly a noteworthy example. Cheers, RickO

I have one just like it. I was quite excited until I realized it was machine doubling.

That's called die deterioration doubling, different from machine doubling but not a doubled die.
