The 1926 Sesquicentennial issued two award medals, a "Medal of Honor", a So-Called Dollar known as HK-458, and a "Medal of Award". They have very similar designs.

Here's the So-Called Dollar:

And the Eureka Vacuum Cleaner Medal of Award ad:

@Zoins.... I like that Medal of Honor piece...Interesting reverse... and though in brass, it has a nice gold look...Cheers, RickO

I own a "Medal of Award" medal and always assumed it was just a variant of HK-458. do you have any idea how "Award" medals were issued??

I found a 1926 Expo award medal in Seagrove NC at the pottery museum. It was a little heart-stopping to see the beautiful art pottery recognized in 1926 (about 94 years ago in Philadelphia) on display with it's original award medal next to it in an original box; very inspiring.

... in the end, I think the pottery won me over... If you ever get a chance to visit and like Pottery... Seagrove NC in November is the place !

Amazing to see these together! It really brings home what times were like and what these awards were for. Thanks for the story, photos and lesson :+1:
