SFDSA as far as your proof 1953, PCGS will designate the FS-101 DDO if you pay for variety attribution and they feel it is. If you submit a DDR and pay the variety attribution, they will call it 'minor DDR'. As far as CAM, DCAM they will make the decision. I would check varietyvista and see what they have compared to what you have, you might have 'discovered' a new one (1 DDO and 3 DDR) and should submit to Wiles. Unless you have a registry set or plan on selling it soon, I am not sure I would even send to PCGS.
Thank you both for the message on getting the FS-901 finally graded correctly. My next mission is to work with Mr. Feltner @ Pcgs to fix the problems with these varieties since there are 2 that are misgraded in the system. I am sorry to say one of them is Tom's, but not to worry I have messaged tom with a option.
I did hear from Mr. Feltner and was told that he does have a staffing issue. I responded to him with the pcgs certificate numbers and grades to assist him with his research to help his staff.
When I hear back from him on this issue, I will be notifying everyone here about his decision and actions.
All the best,
David

I have a question that is not related to this topic but maybe someone could point me in the right direction.
I have a 1953 Washington proof cameo, that is definitely a DDO and a DDR. For grading purposes, which direction should I go? I do know the DDO is used in pcgs sets, but the DDR Is not and haven't found much information on them.
Any help is greatly appreciated!!

Is anyone attending the long beach pcgs show this month? The reason I ask is that Mr. Felter will be present to answer questions during this event. Since there have been issues with grading RDV-006 or FS-901'S, this would be an opportunity to address the issue and hopefully give an explanation as to why pcgs has not removed the coins that were misattributed or attempted to contact the owners to correct the problem. I personally am not going to be able to attend, however I have passed on all information on the misattributed FS-901's to Mr. Feltner to investigate and resolve the issue.
All the best,
David
PCGS has now graded -66- total 1968-S proof quarters as Ty E or F combined. Only -1- specimen of those -66- coins has been graded by PCGS with cameo designation; a PR66CAM. It sold tonight over at GC. I won it for my personal collection, but did not lot view it ahead of time.
I was surprised to see PCGS has already graded and designated -66- different specimens of the 1968-S proof Ty E and F quarters.

Well I guess since I bid a little to early it went to someone I know. I was going to do 550 but at last min did the 355 and see your bid went one higher at the last few seconds, what was your high bid? Enjoy I think that was a steal for a Top Pop.
I noticed that the weight on the coin might be the same as “PR71” when you take into account the 5 bonus points for Cameo (is that how it is calculated?) so I put a little higher bid on the coin for that reason. I’ll tell you in a PM my exact bid, but I would have beaten your $550. Do you have a PR68 or 69 in your collection?

I have the proof 66 that I thought I bought raw from Herbert and after he passed and I got the coin graded and pictured everyone told me pcgs got it wrong, so I sent the coin back to get it corrected and refunded and they did nothing but send the coin back, in the same holder so it sits in my set. Knowing your bid was above my high makes me feel better. You did very well with the price and yes the coin has a bonus for being a cameo and some points for Top Pop......

Interesting that this thread started with a appreciative nod to the contribution of Herb Hicks and then went into full numismatic minutia glory.
Did not know Herb Hicks but I think his modern numismatic tree has proven fruitful if not prolific.
