CNN.com increasing coverage of coins

Given that CNN.com is showing more coin articles on their homepage, any thoughts on whether this will increase the number of collectors?
The first article is about Dell Loy Hansen and retweets a PCGS tweet.

It shows up for me on 3 different browsers, even using Incognito mode. Do they have some super cookie going on?
I'd like to see CNN do an article on the Stone Mountain half dollar.

I only see CNN when I am in airports.....Cheers, RickO
They won't get any traffic from me until they get the denomination right on the coin in the article..."A Pretty Penny". One, The United States does not make "pennies" and...duh, it's a dime!

Does this mean you won't be buying any coins from the US Mint?
They have a webpage for the "penny" but not the "cent"!
There's not even a page for the cent!
Since when is tweeting and retweeting "news"?
When it’s CNN posting PCGS tweets?
I’m glad to see coins and PCGS getting more mainstream coverage. Hopefully it will help get more people into coins, a common lament around here.
There is no doubt those stories were chosen for you based on your browsing history. Non-collectors are not seeing those stories.
My friends saw them and commented. They were excited to hear that Gerry Forsythe, who they met at our spectacular Cosmopolitan display, was the underbidder on the dime.
Don Lemon has been featuring his pocket change.
He may have penny's but he has no common cents. Just sayin'.

It shows up for my co-workers too, so it isn't targeted browsing. It is good seeing stuff like this get some mainstream coverage, but leave it up to some to still find fault with it or turn it into lame political humor, damn.

The concept of a "million dollar dime" is quite newsworthy, and the back story about only nine known of the 24 dimes struck is interesting. Associated Press also did a story about John Brush of David Lawrence Rare Coins making the successful bid for the 1894-S dime. Most of the news coverage indicates PCGS certified the authenticity of the coin and use a splendid PCGS photo. (Disclosure: I assisted John with the publicity and also consult with PCGS.)
It has been a while since I bought direct from the U.S. Mint.
Well, in my opinion, the U.S. Mint is wrong as well! I challenge anyone to find the term "penny" on the U.S. One Cent coin.

A stronger statement might be to boycott all their products, including second hand purchases.
But of course, I doubt it would work so buy away
Perhaps but likely there won’t be any change for this. Still, good way to get the post count up!
CNN and the rest of the internet is watching all of us.

I would imagine the use of "penny" as synonymous with "cent" is as old as the Republic. If it was good enough for George Washington, it's good enough for me!
By the way, the official term for the coin is not "cent" either but "one cent piece". For those that want to be obsessive about it.
If it's a penny for your thoughts and you put in your two cents worth, then someone, somewhere is making a penny.

Does this G.Washington reference to an actual coin using the word/denomination "penny"? Curious.

What coin? People of the time referred to coppers as pennies. Early coppers said 1/100 not even cent at all. "1 cent piece" is the official name but they've been colloquially called pennies fron the beginning.
Must have been confusing when both cents and pennies were circulating together.
George Washington the man, not a coin. "Penny" was common parlance at the time coppers.
What's CNN?
Jeez, the LAST place I would go for coin news - or any news for that matter is cnn…...

Maybe CNN is just trying to give us the news instead of the finger.

PS: There rating have tanked and if it weren't for their "paid" audiences in airports (more than 60 major airports are contracted ((paid)) to only show CNN) they would have almost no audience. Year over year they have lost 33% of their total viewers and 54% of the 55+ viewers. About time they posted real news, even if they don't know the difference between a penny and a dime.
My guess is that it won’t have any significant impact. Once folks figure out they aren’t going to find an 1894-s dime in their pocket change or in bank rolls, the interest will disappear.

A welcome departure from the 24/7 coverage of the Kardashians and their voluminous posteriors.
