Pricing sterling silverware...input appreciated!

Hello, I'm looking for some recommendation on pricing sterling silverware sets. I'm not talking about vintage or Tiffany's silver. I have a few people in my area looking to sell sets to me but I'm thinking of the following:

Spot of silver content minus 15%
Separate the knives

What I don't know is how to price the knives. Any input?

I appreciate it!

I don't think you can price knives based on silver content without destroying them.. unless there is a place to look up average silver content for the pattern.
I guess this doesn't really answer your question though.

Consider the knives likely have silver plated plaster handles and steel blades.

With knives I weigh them by the gram then X them by .3 then by .4 and pay that.

I do not buy silverware, but I do look for Sterling (or full silver) tankards, or trays....Cheers, RickO
