Long Term Condition of Modern Dollars and Cents

I have a question for th ok se who would know better than I (practically everyone). I have noticed the sorry state of newly minted "coated" zinc cents and alloyed golden dollars. The cents seem to rot in your pocket, and the dollars seem to grow very ugly very quickly.
How "unchanged" do you expect these coins to remain if: loose change, fed/bank rolls, or slabs, as compard to previous clad or bronze/copper coin? If you had slabbed MS70 coins, would you hold or sale?

Thanks

Zinc cents always make me nervous, but dollar coins should be a bit more stable. Untouched ones may stay bright or may tone and mellow a bit.

If they have seen just a bit of circulation that is the worst case, since the oils and salts can cause corrosion on am otherwise clean coin.

I had a presidential dollar that I carried for a bit until it tarnished evenly and looked like old brass. That coat of tarnish would protect it, just as with older copper cemts.

The dollar coins may end up looking like this one -- it has been in my pocket since the first day they were issued.

Zincolns deteriorate quickly when subjected to handling or the environment...The dollars seem to hold up better. If the zincolns are slabbed, I believe they will not visibly deteriorate in a couple of lifetimes... I hope to hang around and verify that statement... ;) Cheers, RickO
