BBCE and unopened items from past Nationals

I went through photos I had saved and found a few from each year of the past few Nationals. Here are some of them with year stamps and city. Enjoy.

Chicago 2017

Atlantic City 2016

If anyone else has past BBCE booth photos or photos of other unopened dealers from years past, please post them on here. I wish I had taken pictures of displays in years' past. My buddy took a photo of the Perfect Card Company display back in the 90s but he hasn't been able to find it. They were breaking full boxes from almost every year back to 1960 for baseball and football.

Cool! Thanks for posting them. I forgot about the '62 cello box. That's some serious coin but an amazing box!

I wonder if Steve made more money buying and selling, or if he would have made more money buying and holding. I know he makes money on volume, as does many other businesses, but if he isolated his wax business, I wonder if he would have made more money buying and holding from 2011 to now, or buying and selling from 2011 to now.

The problem with buying and holding is that you have to have the money to buy, and then hold. Buying and selling allows him to reuse the same money over and over again. I'm sure he has made more with his business model.

Some of these may be duplicates of what's above - I just took what I saw in one batch of raw pics that I never posted.

This is from the 2018 NSCC:

The Gretzky box shown is now in my collection.

I thought that one might be yours Chris.

    Great pickup.

@Stone193 - Thanks Mike I am still pretty excited about it!! Steve Hart mentioned to me quite a few people were asking about 79 OPC at the show so glad I got it. With one less box due to the rip at the show these boxes got more rare. My plan.....Hold just the way it is and not rip.

My hunch is that Steve knows what he’s doing. I think he releases much of what comes in as it comes in to maintain cash flow, but also holds certain items back for National marketing and sales. Some of the items they display at National were not previously available. He obviously needs to be concerned with shifts in the market, but I’d guess that the items he does hold are for less than a year and that he has a group of private buyers that can be tapped anytime he feels he needs to get out of a position or help a top-flight customer. Sharp as a tack and cool as the other side of the pillow. Wish we had more like him.

Exactly. Holding doesn't pay the bills.

I remember when Steve priced a 1975 wax case at 50K a few years ago. <Many here thought that price was insane. Today, the case wouldn't even make it out to the table at that price.

The unopened market over the past decade has been amazing indeed.

    That's true Tim.

Just curious. What would a "good" 75T mini pack go if Steve had any?
