What began 7-1/2 years ago with the formation of a small collection of Paris Mint Libertas Americana Medals, has spawned into four Registry sets:

The Libertas Americana Through Time

The Libertas Americana Medals

The Libertas Americana Tokens of the U.S. Centennial

And now, the Libertas Americana's Offspring

With the Libertas Americana's Offspring set, the focus is on the 18th Century Flowing Hair coinage designs that were undeniably based upon (in part or in full) Benjamin Franklin's Libertas Americana Medal.

From half cents to dollars, the early flowing hair coins portray Benjamin Franklin's concept of Miss Liberty in freedom, with her hair flowing in the wind at their own liberty. As such, the selections for the set were based on the strength of strike in Miss Liberty's flowing hair, rather than just the certified grade. (With those early coins, there can be high grade pieces with mushy details.) Also, since these are the progeny of the Libertas Americana Medals, the grades selected to not overshadow their progenitors.

A few examples from the set:

Even after the dies clashed multiple times, this piece still shows off full definition in her tresses.

This one displays superb hair detail, even at the highest points of the design.

This is the B-5, BB-27 Three Leaf Flowing Hair Dollar, notorious for displaying mushy hair. Not so with this one!
