Working on 1902 Proof Set

I've been building a somewhat evenly matched 1902 proof set the past few years, and I got a little closer with the purchase of the quarter from Northeast Numismatics this week. The coins are all graded PR64 or PR65, but they have attractive toning. The proofs from this era are not that easy to locate with cameo contrast, but pretty toning is a suitable replacement.

I got a fair price on the dollar, PR64 CAC, which is what started the set. I'm buried in the half dollar and dime, though, unfortunately. Prices dropped after I bought them, and I had paid up for the pretty toning. The dime has a couple hairlines on the cheek and is a PR64 sitting in a PR65 holder. I should have returned it, but I was too busy at work and it went into the safe. The half dollar has knock-out toning that isn't captured in the TruView image, so I posted my own pic. It also has a cheek mark, so I feel it's a PR64 in a PR65 holder. In fact, it used to reside in a PR64 holder, so it's a permanent burial, I'm afraid. The quarter was a great deal because prices are down right now, and it should easily sticker as a PR64. The nickel is a solid PR65 and I got a fair price, but it doesn't have the matching toning (sorry, no photo on this one). One more to go... a nicely toned Indian cent.... unless I find the magical toned nickel to replace the one I have.

Hope you enjoy seeing these.

They look wonderful! Seem to be evenly matched with great toning.

Jealousy is such a harsh term for how I am feeling ;)

I really do appreciate everything you've put together in the way of your collection, but this is just over the top cool!

Well done. Tough to find with similar toning but worth the effort IMO.

Pretty looking set so far. The dime is my favorite.

Those are quality coins...and although I am not a tarnish fan, the quality of each coin stands out...Well done. Cheers, RickO
