Where are the National Pictures

KurtisJosephKurtisJoseph Posts: 214 ✭✭✭

Did I miss the annual BBCE booth tribute I normally see. . . . With pictures of the unopened wax for all sports. Was surprised BBCE didn’t post on Facebook like other years.

I’m really struggling here.

    Quick notes from today.

Busiest Thursday I have seen at a National in a long time. Lots of people there and had the feel of a Saturday.

Unopened was selling very well and lots of product has changed hands already. BBCE sold two boxes of 75 rack boxes already, and word is one of the rippers bought it so that means less unopened will be out there. Did see a 75 mini rack(pictured) at BBCE booth along with racks from 1970 and 1971.

Modern stuff is doing well and Topps Chrome just launched with Guerrero, Alonso, Tatis as the hot pulls -Acura is hot as well.

Topps update Trouts selling very well - Bowman Chrome versions are hard to find.

Overall mood was positive and did not see any issues at the show. People are talking about the current issues but nothing nasty has happened. Some dealers are a lot slower if you catch my drift.

Will try to post more tomorrow, and let me know if anyone wants to see any specifics.

BTW Gibson’s was awesome this evening and had a great time with Mike(MarsAttacks), John(Sdub) and others.

    Hiya Keith

First - I've noticed a nice rebound in wax - last year we could buy a box of 79T wax for $1200 - friends and family discount for a rip - this year they have a 2K sticker. Also, the 79T and 78T rack boxes at 3K and 3.8K - a good buy and also up a bit.

Can't believe how fast a year went - seems like yesterday I was talking to you and Misty at the National.

This is just my initial impression on the 52T 8 pack cello? I think that price is way too high IMO.

I wonder if this came from the Murphy find?

How much are the pretzels this year?

PS: I hope we can have dinner together next year if I make it up to AC?

Mike - you are correct that Wax is doing well, and saw Steve and a 1980 Topps baseball FASC box for $2600 and a regular 1980 box for $2k. A couple of years ago we did a board rip for around $975 a box FASC 😳

On the 1952 packs like someone suggested someone like a Steinbrenner with unlimited funds who would grab it just for the sake of having it. Pretzels are improved this year and Jr had some for lunch along with a hot dog and they were very good. Prices were not too crazy for food this year.

If you make it to AC next year dinner is on me -that offer goes for Grote as well. If he shows like he says we might have to get ESPN there to cover it 😂

Any love for the unopened football or possibly unopened non sports stuff for us weirdos :) I'm needing my yearly fix of pics as well. I'm hoping to convince the wife we need to see New Jersey next year, but we will see how that goes.

Wow, amazing picks. The one that reaches out at me is the 1952 Topps going for $575,000. Just looking at that is amazing. A treasure like that just sitting there. I hope napkins come with them, for the drool.

15K and they wouldn't have even made it to the display case lol.

Yikes I was thinking WAX boxes at $15K as I saw one at BBCE in another picture for that price. I read that too fast.

Amazing 75 racks individually are a 1K item now. Even with a semi star. Did the one with Dick Allen sell that they wanted the 1K?

A lot of stuff overpriced but there are some deals to be had as well. Just have to look for them. My main focus was 62 Jell-O and Uecker rookies. Been thru half the floor and found 6 Ueckers that were overpriced and about 6 Jello that were 3 commons in rough shape. Picked up a decent 67 Mantle, raw and a 72 Topps basketball wax pack. Heading back over in a while to hunt some more

Some more photos and info on Friday. PSA lines are long -got here early and took an hour to drop off stuff for grading. Topps redemption stuff is crazy. People in line at 9:30 for 11:30 am special pack giveaways.

Some pretty cool storage cases here and grabbed a few. They offer all sizes, and I grabbed some small ones (which can hold 4-5 PSA cards) plus one to hold cards or racks.

Topps redemption line was double wrapped 😳

Here are a few photos from Chicago - circa 2017 National with BBCE photos 😉

Some photos of new cases I picked up from the National from The Collection Case Co. great stuff and found a few cool sizes they offer -used some recent pickups to showcase their size. The small cases can hold 4-5 PSA cards and offer padding and a hard outer case for protection.

They also had a case that was the perfect size for rack packs -comes with a 3 digit combo lock as well as foam like you would find in a gun case for protection.
