Seller says real, I say fake, what do you say???
Saw this listed and thought I'd send the seller a polite note. Told him I suspected that it might be fake and perhaps he should take it to a coin shop and have it looked at before he ships...da da da
So, he writes me back 24 hours later and says he has taken it to two shops and they both weighed it and said it was real. I then said well, you did your part but I think you might consider getting it graded....da da da da
Ask what it did weigh and he said .92 oz.....well that converts to 26.08 grams......hmmmmm. I conveyed it was underweight even allowing for tolerances.....he says "bull".

That coin is not of US Mint origin.
My vote is fake.
I'm not seeing any Vam pick up points. I don't think it's genuine.
Heh
A terribly unconvincing counterfeit
Fake, I just messaged the seller, let's see if I get a different story.

Here is another one off the same dies. Sellers 1886 S doesn't look good either.

Fake. Look at IGWT versus US of A, and wing tips versus a real one.
counterfeit---
mushy strike, lettering not sharp, tooling marks readily apparent left of curl in hat, others smaller ones around a few places on rim., luster off in my opinion. denticles inconsistent.

110% fake
I hope he does not take advantage of someone with this fake. We can't trust eBay to do the right thing.

Fake although it's better than most of the crap coming out of China these days. The overall look is fuzzy since it was struck from transfer dies made from a real coin and a loss of detail would be expected in such a process. It looks like it may actually be made of silver unlike most Chinese fakes which are made of pot metal.

Fake as hell.
I don't think iis a transfer die. The details would be right.
Probably fake and probably the correct weight also. Ali Express seeks the pot metal $1.19 coins but they also sell $35 silver ones.

Disagree. Virtually every struck counterfeit in recent history uses transfer dies. It's too labor intensive to hand engrave a die and the results are not very convincing.

eBay removed the listing.

bogus
it's hard to estimate how many collectors quit collecting due to getting sold a fake coin, but the number has to be pretty high
I'd say that it's really fake.
Obvious fake.

I don't own a single Morgan Dollar but I know what real, circulation strike silver looks like and this ain't it. Even in the highest mint state grades the fields are not that clean and bright. Not without a Dremel.
That is definitely a fake... CC Morgans are a special interest for me... and this one is bogus. Cheers, RickO
Totally counterfeit.
I understand there have been15 other examples like this removed during the week...
Seller is right: It's really fake.

Real fake. Ebay thought so, too.
