Will this $5 gold be designated PL at PCGS?

I bought this 1881 $5 gold piece, NGC MS64.
Does it look PL enough to grade at PCGS? NGC didn’t even give it a star so it makes me wonder. I’ve taken some videos and pictures to show the surfaces. Any advice to show mirror depth through a holder? The holder reflects almost everything so it’s hard to see the field reflectivity. Videos here: https://imgur.com/a/IrL2UVk and pictures below.

Coins don't "grade" proof-like. It is a supplemental designation of something your coin lacks.
No one actually knows what PCGS standards will look like so that is a huge variable. With that said, your coin should NOT receive a proof like designation in my opinion. While there is some reflectivity, it doesn't look deep enough to be fully PL. I also see far too much cartwheel luster for that. If you resubmitted to NGC, I don't think it will change its mind either.
This all of course is based on your images. As you note, PL coins can be difficult to photograph and you might not capture the reflectivity of the fields well. With that said, the presence of significant normal cartwheel luster that I can see in the images strongly suggests against it being fully PL.
Thanks for the opinions!

Did NGC designate it PL? If not and no star, Id say your chances are pretty slim!
Possibly...

I didn't vote. Mostly because we do not yet know the standards that PCGS will grade to.
Until we see some examples that were designated - and some that weren't, it is hard to opine.

@erwindoc strange, I know. Looks like at least a star IMO. Maybe they graded this one on a Friday afternoon?

Hasn't PCGS already published their standard? It started July 1, presumably with the same standards used for Morgan dollars.
Obverse maybe reverse no from those photos IMO.
Good Luck! You won't know until you submit.
According to PCGS standards, a coin’s surface is Prooflike when there is a clear reflection in the fields on both sides as viewed from two to four inches away. A cloudy effect or striations may impede the reflectivity.
Presumably those standards will be applied to non-Morgans. I know that Morgan Dollars use that standard. I don't think the language on the website defining PL has been changed in years even though it doesn't specifically list Morgan Dollars. It will be interesting to see.
What is "clear?" Does that mean no viable zits.....or what.....? There must be specific, reproducible criteria for the definition to have any value at all.
If the definition is satisfactory, anyone with minimal skill should be able to duplicate the TPGs conclusions - at any time and well before submitting a coin.
I think 1% chance is still too high. It has a cool tone to it though, and I like it!
Based on the pictures, and we know how pictures can be misleading, I would say no....However, you can always take a chance.....Your coin, your money.... Good luck, Cheers, RickO
no I don't think so but then again strange things can happen around here
Thanks everyone!

Who really knows? The people sending in for PL designations now are the pioneers.
