Off topic Weirdest Spider I've seen! ET's head? Added a Huge Mushroom!

Saw this sucker munchin on a big bug. I suppose it's natures way of scaring off predators. It's abdomen looks like ET's head and is about the size of a dime. Wish I could get better pictures but it's swinging in the wind and I'm no professional!

Size of a DIME?! I'd have to chase my wife down the street, and beg her to come back.

(For my own self image, I would just ASSUME it was the spider that made her run). ;)

I spend a lot of time in the ocean and I am not scared of any shark.

Spiders scare the heck out of me.

So I am glad I unscrewed and checked my fish finder sonar on my kayak before I went out fishing last weekend and found this poisonous Black Widow spider would have crawled to the highest point on the kayak which is me.

Scares the hell out of me just to think about it ....

In the photo, he is dead because I shot him with a Bug-A-Salt Gun. Made for flies but works great on spiders.

I highly recommend everyone buying a Bug-A-Salt gun as it works fantastic and is super fun.

They must have a thing for kayaks, because my friend found this big one in his and I snapped these images. I'm fairly certain that this is a Wolf spider.

Out in the woods today found this one crawling on my arm.....jumped a little. :o Looks similar to the OP? The only spider that ever bit me was a little tiny red one, made my arm swell up though.

I got bit by one of those gigantic centipedes. Almost immediately I could feel the poison spreading thru my big toe, strange feeling. Put some cortisone cream on the bite and it didn't last very long. I think he didn't get me as bad as possible.

Found this guy at a rest area in Georgia. (The one on I-75 just North of Macon.) It was early morning, and if you weren't careful, you'd run into his web going to the bathroom. (Wouldn't that be fun?)

And as much as I tried, I have no way to bring this back on-topic to coins... :D

Last summer I had brown recluses making a home on my boat when it was docked. It was fun when they would come out as we were cruising around. My first instinct was to jump off the boat!! Haha

Beautiful Nephila clavipes. Don't get to see those in Wisconsin unfortunately. Largest I've ever seen in the wild were in a wooded section of a Fort Lauderdale area city park and the high elevations of central Puerto Rico. Orb webs easily 5-6 feet across. The silk is tremendously strong and has been used for fishing nets.

I was bitten by a brown recluse one time in GA. It instantly felt like someone shot me with a electric gun before it got much worst.

As for rest of you lurkers.

Been watching this thing grow down in the woods the past few weeks and finally hiked down there to give it a look. I've never seen a mushroom this big around here. The dang things 18" in diameter! Maybe I'm being invaded by aliens! :#

I just spoke with a coin friend (he's up to 80 different classic commems) in North Carolina yesterday.
He got bit by a brown recluse last week. It meant a couple days in the hospital hooked up to an antibiotic IV.

Sometimes I get pretty good sized bumper crops or those on my place. We always fry them up with onions. Those we can't eat we freeze and use in casseroles and such.

I hunt these every few nights as they can multiply quickly and take over your home. Once they get inside they get everywhere and the sting is nasty. I spray for widows and hunt for these bark scorpions with a black light.

As a bonus here is a good old garden spider. They sometimes get to a few inches in leg span. This one was only about a 3 inch span. Don't know the scientific name.

I have one of these between two crepe myrtles in the backyard.
    It is huge.
My wife thinks I killed it.
    (I didn't.)
I just have to remind myself when mowing to give it a wide berth.
