I've never broken up a 1988 dated set, but it is relatively common to break up sets dated 1971 to 1974. Nothing else you can do with them.
its got a good home now
I love spending proofs that just don't make the cut.
Later, Paul.
Most the impaired proofs that I find in the cash drawer have the fields really marked up. Yours is pretty nice...was the 2 X 2 in the till as well? (sarc)

Bet that was fun seeing that
That is a neat find.... and still looks - according to the pictures - in great condition. Cheers, RickO
I usually take my coins out of their 2x2's before I spend them!
Nice find! I've come across maybe 1 or 2 similarly in my lifetime. Always a nice score!

That’s cool! Must have been recently added to the general pop.
Around 1990, I came across two or three proof coins in change from a White Hen Pantry (a c-store).
It was in the part of town where I could see a kid 'liberating' some coins from a parent's or grandparent's collection.
People had not yet busted up too many proof sets in frustration with their illiquidity/ unsalability.
Fun find, I have about half dozen proof quarters that I've found in change.

Never a slave to one plastic brand will I ever be.
