I loved that coin when I saw it in its NGC 58* holder a couple of months ago. What a beauty! And such a cool variety...the most bizarre overdate in the series. 1824 over 2 over 0.

    Thanks, Lance!
It’s too bad PCGS doesn’t have some type of designation on their holders strictly for eye appeal, like NGC. I’ve seen countless examples of absolutely beautiful coins in PCGS holders deserving of that * (Star). I know the + indicates high end for the grade but there are plenty of blast white coins out there with a + on their holders, which of course are deserving of that designation. It would just be nice if somehow PCGS recognized eye appeal alone on their holders since it’s the most subjective of all the characteristics that go into a coin’s grade. It would sure give everyone out there some idea of what PCGS considers as eye appealing.

Either way, I’m very happy to have this 1824 as part of my bust half collection. It truly ranks up there as one of the nicest coins I own.

Thanks for the kind words everyone!

That is one of the prettiest Capped Bust halves I've ever seen. Did PCGS at least color bump it to AU58+ or MS? It would be deserving.

A very eye-appealing AU55 that was bumped to AU58 because of its attractive toning. The wear on the high points is too obvious to justify any MS grade.

Whatever on the grade. Time to re-do your icon. Sweet looking coin.

Coins like that don’t need any designations! Great looking coin!! Keep the star insert.

I know it’s hard to believe but the true view is very similar to how the coin looks in hand.
