    Significant improvement. I like it.

Always buying 1971 OPC Baseball packs.

Way better - my only (very) minor gripes are that it starts with the newest dates and ends with the oldest dates (i.e. 1979 packs are first, 1970 packs are at the bottom of the page) and that the lines of images don't line up (some smaller pictures are raised above the other images, making it look uneven).

I noticed one bug. When I was looking in a category with more than 48 items there was no next page button and I can't see more than 48 items at once.

One workaround is to append ?page=2 to the end of the URL

Or you can change the number of items showing on a page like this

I'm guessing they'll have this fixed soon. Or maybe I'm just missing the next button!

The breakdown by decade is less than strategic. I liked just being able to scroll through all of baseball. A good rule of thumb is: don't do anything that increases the number of clicks your customers have to make in order to view or purchase your product.

Limiting items to page to 48 is not good either. And definitely go back to sorting oldest to newest. My $0.02.

  • LarkinCollectorLarkinCollector Posts: 8,975 ✭✭✭✭✭

If you click on the header and not a decade, it loads all within a category. It says they're limited to 48/page, but if you keep scrolling the others load automatically.

I really wish for the 'Other Sports' they would break it up by sport instead of decade. There aren't enough entries in a given sport to warrant a decade breakdown. I have to do a search on 'Golf' now since they got rid of the category or filter through a bunch of racing and wrestling.

@softparade IMO Steve has quite a bit of "FORUM BREAK" inventory.
    1989 UD Low# wax case
    73/74 Topps BK wax box
    89/90 Fleer wax case
    88/89 Fleer wax box
    87/88 Fleer wax box
1977 and 1978 Topps FB wax boxes
    1974 Topps FB wax box
    81,82,84,85 Topps FB wax cases
    82 Topps FB cello case
I'm not familiar with later years and other sports. I would think that
many of these items would be welcome in a break. IMO

Did anyone buy a 1975 topps baseball vending box from them.
Said they had bought a case of them and opened a couple boxes and they were all low numbers, so
you had a better chance of getting Brett and Yount rookies.
Never did hear anything about those boxes on this board, just wonder how many Younts and Bretts
would be in a 500 count box.

That doesn't even make sense, they phased out the low/high numbers/series during 1973. Maybe there was a very brief secret experiment about doing two series a year or something?

Even though all cards were issued at the same time, individual sheets still contained only some of the “series.” In this case those vending boxes were likely filled with only cards from these two sheets, which together make up cards 1-264 and only those cards.

That would be so cool to have all five 1975 uncut sheets...good luck though....

    1. Trying to find them
    2. Not costing a small fortune
    3. Not be all worn/creases/etc
    4. Getting them framed properly, again without it costing a small fortune
    5. Did I forget to mention finding them?

Actually it might be kinda cool to get those team checklist uncut sheets from the mid 70s up to 1982...but again you gotta be sure they're in nice condition and not have creases and such.

Probstein had all 5 sheets for sale last year in May/June???, with each sheet auctioned individually, with staggered ending times. I don't recall the order that the sheets were listed, but I won the Brett/Yount sheet for less than I had budgeted, so upped my bid on the Ryan/Rose sheet and won that one, as well. While I also had bids on the other 3 sheets, I lost out on those. I want to say that the aggregate total for all 5 sheets was around $1700, but who knows what the final price would have been if I'd have pursued the other 3 sheets more aggressively.

The 2 sheets that I ended up with were not gem mint, but had only a few slight creases, with just some minor edge wear/damage. Really not even noticeable once the sheets are up on the wall.

I priced getting them framed professionally, with UV blocking glass, and found that to be more than I cared to invest. (That's money that could be spent on more cards! Ha!) I ended up buying $10 toploaders and mounted them to my wall using 3M Command Strips. They are displayed in my card room, which gets very minimal outside light, and maybe an hour or 2 a week of incandescent light.

Since then, I have not seen another Brett sheet come up for sale. However, I have seen the other 4 sheets listed at least once each since then, and all seem to have been auctioned off at much stronger prices than last summer. I have lost out on every one of those. I'm not actively looking to add those 3 missing sheets, but if the opportunity arises, I'm sure I will again make reasonable attempts to acquire them. They are not "at any cost" items that I need to have, though.

Anyone having a problem making purchases from the website? I loaded up my cart, went to checkout and when it came time to pay (I was paying with Paypal so the time to leave the site and securely log in) it just pushed me back to the top of the page and there was a little red message that said something to the effect of "there was an exception in your action."

I backed out and made sure I wasn't trying to order more of something that they had in stock, double-checked everything else on the page, tried and got the same thing again. It doesn't show anywhere else on the page that there's an error.

I don't know much about uncut sheets, but I would have thought the aggregate would be much higher. Sounds like a great price for an uncut 1975 set in decent condition. Nice pickup!

And in true BBCE style, they send me an email about my checkout problem and get it fixed.

I just hope Steve finally hired someone to do this stuff on the weekend. I used to feel bad emailing them with some dumb question on a Sunday and Steve would be the one to respond in like 20 minutes. Guy should at least get Sundays off. His boss must be a real jerk.

I’ll get a hold of them and fix it, just curious about this.

You have to re-register. I had same problem. I think all emails got wiped out.
