I don't think it's a strike through. The edges of that void are raised, while in a strike through the edges would be flat with the field.

It looks more like post-mint damage from long ago that has been worn down by many years of circulation.
I tend to agree with PMD....and the nickel rim is damaged as well...Cheers, RickO

Ditto on the PMD. The metal that was moved away to create that recession is clearly visible and raised away from the field.

You aimed too high.
If you had sold it as a lamination then maybe some of us might have nibbled (but FW corrected us in any case).
So I guess PMD it is.
P.S. - there seems to be some distortion on the obverse as well. That must have been a violent encounter with something, but time (and circulation) heals all wounds.

Those green specks might keep this one from straight grading with PCGS.
I think that the rather common date, wear, low value and damage would combine to discourage one from submitting it in the first place😉
