Congrats to everyone at PCGS and Collectors Universe!
Also, since this coin has a 75000000 cert number and PCGS does a lot of marketing around @tradedollarnut’s $10M SP66 1794 Flowing Hair Dollar, can that be recertified with a 10000000 cert number

All those zeros. Hard to count but looks like you got an extra one @Zoins.

I promised you guys a big announcement this week
This week is almost over so😊
I’m on the edge of my seat and I mean that.
PL designations would be VERY well received if for all series of US coins.
Wish and you shall receive! Starting July 1 we will be expanding Prooflike designation eligibility to all U.S. coins. We will provide more information closer to the official start date
Yeah, I have several AU Barber Half's that would garner the designation but I'm not inclined to roll the dice as it would be just like trying to get a +. If at 1st you don't succeed....try and try again. And that my friends is what I believe our hosts are counting on and I believe will happen.
Edit to add my avatar, which is probably one of the nicest 58's out there took 5 tries to get a +.

I wonder if PCGS will also designate PL coin's graded lower than MS60 like NGC has been doing.
Great news indeed. For collectors and for PCGS. Think of the all the regrades!
A decision like this, with implementation just two weeks from now, must have been in the works for quite a while. The workflow, training, documentation, and database changes must be overwhelming. But it is surely a worthy endeavor!

Sounds awesome! Where can we see this extended to all World coins?
All world coins have been eligible for the PL designation for about a year now actually. This trues everything up, on July 1 PL will be available on ALL coins that PCGS grades. US. World. Modern. Tokens. Medals. Any and all.

Will PCGS still be using the cutoff grade of MS60 to designate PL?
@BrettPCGS — Now would be a great time for PCGS to consider expanding the Prooflike/Deep Mirror Prooflike designation to Deserving AU Coins with PL/DMPL Reflectivity.

@BrettPCGS Do you know the pedigree of this rare beast? Upon further research, I concluded that this is not the Eliasberg specimen, which just blows my mind on the off-chance that this is a previously unknown example.

Does this mean you're now grading gold PL???
Is this a first - I couldn't find one on the price guide?
Gorgeous in every way👌🏻
Nice coin. More PL designations is better

I like this
Collector, occasional seller
whats not to like about it?
Very pretty gold coin!
Will @CoinPhysicist now cross his NGC PL collection? Will he do a happy dance now that PCGS has relented?
Great news, and a monster coin to get the #75000000 holder!

I believe you meant to tag @physicsfan314 . Not sure how much his original thread influenced the decision.

Yes, I did. Thanks for the correction.
Although clearly not his coin; I still wouldn't be surprised, if his request had some impact.

I hope the term monster never shows up on a slab. Edit to add love the coin.

Dang that $5 is pretty!
YAYYYYYY !!!!!
Great news.
The hobby continues to evolve to meet the needs, wants and desires of the participants.
Now where did I put the two prooflike coins I have?
@BrettPCGS Do you know the pedigree of this rare beast? Upon further research, I concluded that this is not the Eliasberg specimen, which just blows my mind on the off-chance that this is a previously unknown example.
I fail to see the value in calling something "like" when it just..... isn't.
Great transactions with oih82w8, JasonGaming, Moose1913.
Good news, it will be interesting to see if this increases the number of collectors who focus on proof like coins.
Would you prefer “reflective” or “mirrored”?
Mark Feld* of Heritage Auctions*Unless otherwise noted, my posts here represent my personal opinions.
Neither. Anyone should be able to make the observation of proof-like without help. I just feel it's unnecessary.
Great transactions with oih82w8, JasonGaming, Moose1913.
What about "++"
@BrettPCGS This is great news. Thanks for doing this.
A few questions.
