Was on Netflix today looking at Season 3 of MST3K (1999), movie was “The Beast of Yucca Flats” or something like that. Movie is short so they had two short features. One is for teenagers about how to handle money. Opening credits show a nice Proof 1951 half.

The film starts out with a high school kid down to his last half dollar (dated 1950) but he needs $2.00 to go to the school dance. Suddenly the outline of Ben Franklin appears to him to teach him the value of thrift.

I like the Franklin half dollar.. and it is silver..... It cannot compare to the WLH (great coin of my youth), but it did have a historical and patriotic theme.... Cheers, RickO
