Didn't see these trade details until this afternoon:
The Pelicans will get the No. 4 pick in this week’s draft. They’ll get the Lakers’ first-rounder in 2021 if it’s in the top eight. If it isn’t, the Pelicans will get an unprotected first-rounder in 2022. The Pelicans will have the right to swap picks with the Lakers in 2023. The Pelicans will also get an unprotected first round pick in 2024, with a right to defer to 2025.
    and this:
If the Pelicans and Lakers had waited until July 30 to complete the trade, the Lakers could’ve had $32.5 million in cap space — enough to pursue a max-contract-level free agent. By waiting until July 30, Los Angeles would’ve been acting like a team over the cap and thus would be allowed to use the fourth overall pick in Thursday’s draft as salary. If the trade is finalized on July 6, that number shrinks to $27.7 million — a number lowered to $23.7 million with Davis’ trade kicker.

Basically NO's controls LA's draft picks until the year 2025 and because this deal will be finalized for July 6th the Lakers will only have 23.7M to add another player. Kyrie & Kemba are both Supermax eligible and I don't see either player signing for 23.7M when they can both get 38M in a sign & trade.

    I just saw that.

Tell your friend DIM-MAN (short for dimwit) to get out of this thread. He doesn't know what’s going on here.

I said a few months ago, and I still feel, that I will be surprised if the Lakers are not in the championship hunt next year. Now with AD, if he stays healthy, and if they can add the right pieces- they will be. Sure they are possibly trading their semi-imediate future, but a title would make that a moot point.

    Maybe it will work?

And I would love to see some meaningful, tough Boston/Lakers games :D

One title makes it all worth it, no title and that is arguably the worst trade in NBA history. Time will tell.

One other thing I thought of is in year one of Lebron/Wade/Bosh and year one of Lebron/Kyrie/Love neither team won a championship. This season is their big shot with GS on the mend and every team knows this now. Houston imho just went from a fire sale to finding a way to go all in. Portland,Denver & OKC too.

It's just too much fun watching hammerhead make a fool of himself bragging up his lame LA sports teams. Bron Bron was supposed to bring the Lakers a Championship this year. Well....they didn't even make the playoffs. HA HA HA ! Too Bad.

this could be said for a lot of trades, maybe even by Boston and Cleveland. it didn't work out for either of them.

This is basically the NBA version of the Herschel Walker trade. If I were a Pelicans fan I'd be very happy getting that return for a guy who could have likely left for nothing had he stayed quiet.

As for the Boston-Cleveland deal, imho Cavs win that trade if Kyrie walks for nothing,if they do a sign & trade it depends on the return.

Yes....I remember the Herschel Walker trade. :) Walker didn't do squat in Minn. and all the players we got from Minn. for him helped build the 90's Cowboy dynasty that won 3 SB's. I remember it well. B)

I do get it...you make a commitment to sign LeBron and the window is limited. What happens in a few years....no draft picks, LeBron is older and not quite as dominating as he was 10 years ago. How does this franchise recover then. Like it was said above, if you can get a championship, it's all worthwhile.
