The 1855 is a clear DDO on the right side of the shield. The 1890-S is the scarcer Small "S". I personally think they (PCGS) was wrong on this one. I see no damage just nice thick toning. Thanks for looking and comments welcome.

I also have trouble seeing that as "damage". Cool varieties.
Nice coins Jon... and I agree with your comment about the 'damage'...I am sure you looked at these carefully, so, perhaps a reconsideration is in order... Cheers, RickO
Nice dimes Jon!

Great pickups @DIMEMAN .... see no damage whatsoever there
@Dimeman I agree with you about the damage. I consider that 90-S a nice example of how these seated dimes sometimes just end up looking a little "over - cooked" in the toning department.
The 1855 DDO Shield is also known as F-103 (as you already noted on your photo):

And your 1890-s Small-s with steep downward date slope looks like the F-105:

Do you see the reverse die cracks or the die line shown on Gerry's photos?
Great antique dimes

no damage that I see
BHNC #203
The die line on the right is barely showing and the 2 on the left are not there yet that I see in hand. I use to have the small s far left variety, but it got sold with the set back in 2016. Did you happen to pick up any of my Dimes in that sale?
The "small s far left" variety looks pretty cool, too.
No, I did not buy any of your Dimes from the 2016 sale.
I like to figure out die varieties, but I don't actively collect the involved coins.
Occasionally I will buy a half dime variety on ebay if it's an unusual variety and I want to take a better photo.
1855 DDO looks more clearly than 1890-s Small s.
