Pipe dreams...

Louis Eliasberg assembled one of the best coin collections of all time. Many of his treasures are mere "pipe dreams" for the average collector.
Well, recently the man's actual pipe came up for sale and someone took this dream literally.
Now, which one of you bought it?

Silly price IMHO, but think this is the pipe pictured in his Life magazine article?
That is a bit extreme...IMO.... Definitely not an item I would even consider. Cheers, RickO
Annnd I'll just drop this here!

John Brush bought Eliasberg’s pipe at an auction and took a photo with me and the pipe. I thought that was a fun piece of history I now share with the esteemed Mr. Eliasberg. I appreciate Mr Currin’s Blog known as Hansen Watch. it is a joy to observe his deep study comparing Elias-berg’s coins to the ones I am assembling. I learn a great deal from his research and comparisons. I look forward to having Mr Currin looking more closely at the Collection. I hope to get true view photos of the coins lacking pictures soon. Collecting is personal to each collector I honor profoundly the numerous great collectors both past and present. Let’s together celebrate our shared hobby and enjoy each other’s Numisnastic crusades. Onward and upward in seeking our individual goals. D. L. Hansen

Hmmmm.... let's see, now.....over $5,000 for a $10 pipe.....
Not an item that I'd purchase but it's 'cool factor' is understandable....At least it was no where near $350K! lol
Sometimes, it’s better to be LUCKY than good. 🍀 🍺👍

you can buy a nice used car for 5 grand, pass on the pipe
the buyer could likely light the pipe with $100 bills without too much concern.
...now this is definitely something I would be interested in owning in the future...and you know what? I’m gonna add some more “circulation” to it...in fact, I would take her right to the ANA museum in green-friendly CO and fire it up right out front like a Boss before letting one of the minions hold it in the whip while I slowly take my time overlooking at everything inside...one can dream can’t he? Congrats to the new owner and for five racks that’s a way dope “piece” to keep right on the desk for ANY REAL Numismatist, whether your a smoker or not
I would pass on the pipe. It doesnt even have a CAC sticker, and the eye appeal is terrible. Lol
HAPPY COLLECTING
No question that it has NT.
