Nice day for a little cherrypickin.

Visiting my lcs, the dealer ask if I wanted to see some nicer slabbed lincolns. First one I seen was an unattributed 1930-S ms65 rd s/s. Complete with die markers to reference. Picked up a cheap old NGC soap box 1944-S Walker to boot. $120 for the pair, I feel satisfied.

This is why it's the best hobby. One gets "satisfaction". The Rolling Stones couldn't get that.

I found a bit of sterling at a yard sale for 2$ I am not home yet so I do not know the weight but I know it is worth more than 2$. And then at and antique shop I bought two silver foreign coins for 2.5$ and melt is about 3$.

Thank ya! I'm just curious , I was updating my spreadsheet today and when I went to put the value of the s/s I could not find any recent sales history. So should I put the pcgs recommended value ?

The 1930-S/S Lincoln looks like a very nice coin. Unfortunately, the 1944-S Walker looks like a common date bullion bag of Half Dollars type of coin. The holder can't save it. Was $120 for the pair a good price? I have no idea.

    All glory is fleeting.

I know the Walker doesn't have much value, but I've had a thing for soap box holders lately so I didn't mind

Congrats on your 500th post & your Cherrypick! The cents is a Top 100 RPM with a price guide value of $200 in 65. :)

Yours may be less because of the carbon spots or it may be more depending on demand & availability. It should be worth at least what you paid for both coins so you are in good shape. Nice pick!

Nice find.... I just came across a local sale of two 'Salts' - that is the old name for small trays with a tiny spoon that was used to put salt on food - that are sterling...no idea of the weight yet, still en route....but for just $3...Cheers, RickO

  • dagingerbeastttdagingerbeasttt Posts: 784 ✭✭✭✭
