Interesting GSA cards
Here are a pair of interesting GSA cards. Note that these two cards are not the usual inserted date cards that accompany the GSA hard pack. Instead, these two seem to be supplements that were included in the two rare dates, 1890-CC and 1891-CC.
What is curious (to me at least) is that it seems that these cards were not always included with the 1890-CC or 1891-CC hard packs. I know this because I've had the good luck to open a few original, sealed 1891-CCs hard packs without discovering this type of card.
These cards are very scarce. While I have seen the 1891-CC card a couple of times, the 1890-CC card is a recent acquisition and the first I've seen. My first reaction was that these cards were fakes but I'm not convinced of that these days. These cards are odd. While one can readily understand the presence of these cards with the coins that are dated 1890-CC and 1891-CC - these two dates are very scarce - are there such cards for the rarest date in the GSA hoard, 1879-CC? Why weren't these cards inserted in ALL of the 1890-CC or 1891-CC hard packs?
I haven't seen such a card in my some 40 years of collecting GSAs.
Any other GSA collectors want to add their two cents?

I've seen them. Are you sure they aren't inserted by a retailer?
I'm not sure that they've been inserted by a retailer, which is why I've posted them here.
Remember, these two dates were sold out in the original auction. So these two dates would be dispersed widely across the country, one by one. I've tried to imagine how a large retailer/dealer would be able a collection to make producing these cards worth while.
Interesting.... I have not seen those cards... and my '90 and '91 were not acquired in a sealed GSA pack like others I have...Cheers, RickO

They don't need to have a lot of them to print a few cards. It's just a no exchange policy. The retailer could have put them in all their GSA dollars.
Again, I don't know but unless the card has BEP printing info on it, it is possible and would also explain why not all 90 or 91 GSA dollars had the cards.
A lot of the 90 and 91's are such dogs. I could see a retailer putting a no return on them. But this does not make sense with the 1890 card. The coin is came with was very nice.
The type appears similar to the original GSA cards.
Is there any printing on the reverse?
I've not come across these before.

have not seen them before but its still interesting to see, fwiw
That is a first for me. My first impression is that it is somehow after market.
