EDIT-Answered 1902 O $1 What is going on with the motto (IGWT)

Is this the result of going to work on the die and doing a lazy job of cleaning it up? Or just a really worn out die? Curious and thanks for the info for whomever has it. (Sorry for the loopy pictures) my brother @dagingerbeasttt took them 🤣my camera is busted

    My guess would be die rust, perhaps with some related die chipping.

    I could see that, I wasn’t aware of die rust on This series but I have not seen that many examples either

    Rusted dies are common on Morgans, at least from CC and O. Perhaps not so from S and P.
    I see some minor retouching of the die perhaps, but very minor and of no consequence to the typical collector.
