Thoughts on this coin

Trying to finish the last few I need for 33-47 Walker set. I considered bidding on this 1933-S Walker, but in the end I did not. Went for $859.99. Coin has a decent strike and looks relatively clean in the decent but not great photos. Price seems quite resonable, but no telling how much more I would have had to pay had I pursued it. Your thoughts?

Reverse strike is ok, obverse looks kinda weak to me.

Weak strike on the head area, but seems like a low grade for the example shown. I would be wondering what I can't see in the pictures.

I'm guessing there are hits that these angles are not showing in the photos given the 62 grade. I agree with @Smudge concerning strike. You should be able to find another one. Be patient and the right one with surface! :)

I had a set of Walkers 34-47 in MS 64ish inclusive and I sold them to peruse an other obsession.
Now on to my question, why start at '33 and not at something like...…..'30 for your set?
In the olden days we had two short sets, 41-47 and the 34-47....just wondering.

The 33S is generally well struck, at least in the central area, so don’t chase or overpay for those you see.
Not sure what grade you are seeking to match the rest of your set, but it may be worth paying up to get one in a full 63 holder, presuming it’s an all-there 63.

The pictures make it appear better than a 62....maybe that is why it went so high....and possibly higher if the OP was bidding... ;) Not disputing the grade, just commenting on picture vs. grade... Cheers, RickO

LOL! Because the only walker struck between 1930 + 1934 is the 33-S!

The buyer got a good deal. CDN bid $850 MV around $1100.

I like the coin and it has nice luster and appears to be clean of unattractive toning. I consider MS62 avg Unc although has been called first premium grade above Unc. This piece would fill the hole nicely. It has the appearance (from photo) of higher grade piece.

At very least it appears definitely to be a PQ MS62 and would attract a lot of attention on the bourse from WLH players. With a show coming up in late June would try move it somewhere between cost and MV.
