$2.5 Gold Indians - Two from the collection (1914 and 1927)

This has always been my favorite series. I have owned alot of them but currently only have two as my collection is a bit thinned out. First one is my favorite date to hunt for (1914). A tough date to find nice examples of although there are plenty out there. It took me a few trys of these in MS64 to settle on this one. The second coin is a 1927 also in MS64 but has some nice toning and awesome luster which is similar in spots to MS65 coins, for example in the field above the head. The luster is muted in the photos. Also shows the beginning of a CUD error which you can see on the reverse. I have owned a few indians in MS65 but none in the collection right now. Hopefully will get a few nice ones again in the future. Let me know your thoughts.

And the 1927..

Here's one I got a couple of weeks ago. I love the color. I have a complete date set of these but I'm working on a trade for a 1916 doubled die obverse nickel for them. This coin is the beginning of another set should the trade go thru.

Love the die crack forming. I have a "cud transitional" piece too. Yours is only the second I've seen like it.

That "bloody nose" is a good identifier for the coin.

Impressive coins. A series I would like to complete a set.

I assembled a complete set of these in 58-62 (with the 11-D in 55) more than a decade ago. Fun to do, fun to sell. The 11-D made it too expensive of a set to keep around. Damn key coins!

The 27 is especially super! Nice QEs.

MS66 taste on an MS63 budget.

Lovely examples. I'm not a huge Gold guy, but the $2.50 Indians have always 'turned my crank'.

Nice coins, and thanks for sharing.

Always looking for original, better date VF20-VF35 Barber quarters and halves, and a quality beer.
