problems with a 1916 proof-66 buffalo nickel slabbed by your host.

Take a look at this picture of the obverse of a slabbed proof-65 1916 buffalo nickel (600 struck). Any comments?

Unusual amount of die polishing? What's the reverse look like? Is EPU clashed?

No Tru view available? I have never owned a PR Buff but I see a nasty spot there
That's a PR66
. Also spot removed?... The PR65 for sale at $1500 less is much nicer IMO.

“Any comments?”
Yes, despite the temptation, don’t jump to conclusions - negative or positive - based just on a coin’s images.

True, I should adjust what I've said... Based on the images provided, the PR65 example also currently available(not pictured here) looks like the nicer coin.

All I see are tiny spots and one big one. So what's the point you are trying to make? Mod's, please give me a short vacation? LOL.
PS Perhaps a water spot on the case?
That looks more like a scan. Scanners are notoriously bad for imaging coins.

The rims are not "squared off" enough in my opinion, nor is the detail really there for a Proof. Mis-labeled MS? ...I have been wrong before.

I circled 3 Areas on the image👇below that may warrant discussion of the OP’s following quoted post — based solely on the image provided for discussion purposes:
1) Obvious Larger Spot of some Foreign Substance Residue
2) More Subtle Possible Smaller Spot which may have been caused by Foreign Substance Residue
3) Area adjacent to Crack in Slab which may have Preferentially Toned due to it’s proximity to the crack
Any other thoughts, observations or conclusions? 🧐

I hate guessing games. If you have a question, ask it.
Awful lighting to assess surface quality. Show me the reverse. @CaptHenway and I take turns explaining the diagnostics for all Type II proof Buffalos 1913-1917
My visual appraisal of the photograph, is, it does not look like a PR65... IMHO....Cheers, RickO
Slab looks defective

To the OP.. thanks for the trolling thread.
Your slab has crappy plastic and lint, the gasket is slightly misaligned hiding rim edges, the braid is soft, your lighting is off-center (shadow over LIBERTY) and it looks like a dipped-to-death piece of crap with whitish spots where copper staining and/or spotting formerly took root.
Anyone who'd like to say anything nicer feel free to chime in.
If the OP has not had a family emergency, he's watching this thread. And he knows how incredibly simple it is to verify proofs of this date.
To withhold this information is adorably cute
in an aggressively passive-aggressive way
Thank you for failing to add anything of merit to anyone's knowledge base.
@ChrisH821 - There is no clashing diagnostic for this reverse. (EPU=EPL?). Disabuse yourself of that idea.
Each and every satin proof Type 2 Buffalo 5c, and no business strikes whatsoever, has been struck from identical reverse dies.
1) Mint-made perfectly straight scratch-like depression on the flat part of the internal edge of the rim from maybe 6:45 to 7:30. Once you note this it will stick out like a sore-thumb for eternity
2) Triangular backwards-pointing die chip located at top of bar of "D" of "UNITED"
Someone should picture-fy this.
Again !
Well, since the OP has bounced, the coin in question is currently for sale here:

@ColonelJessup the reason I asked about the die clash was due to what appears to be field die polish, below the jaw and in front of the forehead and up, which I wouldn't think is diagnostic of a proof. I haven't seen any with E Pluribus Unum clashed- as many circulation strikes are, but I don't generally shop for Proofs. This was before I took the <2 minutes to check ebay for this coin.
I now realize that what I saw was the shadow of the insert, not field die polish

Check out HA archives for close-ups. One page of PR66 Type 2 reverses and you'll be locked-in for life.
You can pick off your friends !!!!!!
I doubt even I could be more diplomatic.
That was softened by a caveat from @MFeld. I didn't actually like it as much as it might have sounded

Sorry I ever started this thread.

nice, a thread that went off the rails and a post that makes me think someone hijacked the Colonel's account. what more can we ask for except some sort of explanation by the OP as to what the thread is all about??
No hijacked account.
Lately this member likes to start "what do you think about this" threads.
It's not his coin and it's for sale by someone else. And it's usually funkoid.
Is this a proof?
Is he warning us of something?
What is his purpose in posting if not to provoke negativity?

As suggested previously, effectively a trolling thread. He got ME
Otherwise, nothing to see here, folks
Funkoid.
New word? I like it a lot. In a funked-up way.

@BuffaloIronTail
