Coins in war and battles

Certainly coins have been carried into battles and battles are bloody affairs. Anyone have thoughts on how blood would affect the toning of gold, silver or copper coins.

Why not just do a test on your own? A spot of blood on each type of metal and let it age....As to your 'battle coin' idea, I would think any coins found in that condition were quickly cleaned. Cheers, RickO
With the thousands of battles over thousands of years and all the archaeology surrounding them, I'd have to think we already know the answer. I have subscribed to Archaeology magazine for probably 20 years now and have never read anything about blood evidence on coins, so to me the default answer is "no effect".
Blood corrosion is VERY obvious on weapons. Steel pits very quickly when exposed to blood.
I can't understand this.
It's bad enough that soldiers shed their blood.
So why is this important??
Curious, but not that curious.
Blood stains and corroded all sorts of metals. Trust me, I know. Peace Roy
