Recently picked up a new super tough date PL, a 1893 PCGS 61PL. Top grade for PL is a 62 and there are only 7 in all grades. About the same pop in DMPL, and the same top pop a 62. Very happy with this pickup!! The coin actually has very nice mirrors and would be a PL in any date.

Very nice coin, Todd
When I think 61 I think issues. You must have been happily surprised
Exceptional contrast and clarity accentuates the depth.
Congrats
I’d be happy with it in a heartbeat.
Awesome. Sure looks nicer than 61 in those pics!!!

Great looking coin, especially for a 61 and that is a really tough date!
Beautiful! Do you mind sharing you photo setup? How many lights and type ect. Man that is one beautiful coin! Thank you for sharing.
From the photos, that one looks much nicer than "MS-61." - unless something odd is not visible in the photos. Compare with the same authentication company's usual MS-62 and 63 Morgan dollars.
Yes, for sure. Most the time a 61 Morgan would have a cheek unrecognizable after a knife fight. This cheek is great. The 61 is harsh, but on tougher date PL's grading seems to be conservative. I have an 1886-O PL in the same boat.
That’s a bad ass Morgan right there buddy...Hell Yeah!
PL is created by the dies and is completely irrelevant to any post-striking surface abrasion or damage. Since "grade" must only be a function of post-striking surface abrasion or damage, it is immaterial if the fields are mirror-like.
Sweet, congratulations !!!
Very nice, Todd!
Nice PQ coin.

I love it
Great looking morgan for a 61! Congratulations!
Very nice!

Your 1893 61PL looks much nicer than the given grade, I would pay 62 money for it. Tough one to find with only 7 known PL's noted the PCGS population report.
