Need pointers on where to find values of foreign coins
Hi all. Am a regular on the US Coin Forum. A long time friend and his wife recently retired. Before they moved, they found several boxes of coins from her late father. She knew I collected coins and wanted me to look at it.
While I try to avoid this sort of thing, I've known him for fifty years, he's my best friend, so I said I'd do it.
I started looking through the material last night. I found a number of Canadian and British coins. Re the latter, a number of shillings, most early 20th century, some late 19th century, including a Queen Victoria 75th Anniversary shilling from 1900 that still had some mint luster. There's also a Churchill memorial coin of some sort from 1965 that appears Unc.
The Canadian coins are everything from an 1888 dime, to various early 20th century pieces, plus some dollars from the early and mid 1960s. And I'm just getting started.
There were some Israeli mint sets from the 1960s and 1970s, a Whitman Book of Israeli coins, some of which have low mintages, and a proof set which was ruined because it was kept in PVC plastic. There are a number of Israel government medals of various sorts, as well.
I'd like some sources where I could go to get an idea of what this material is worth, so when I sell it for him and her, I don't get ripped off.
Thanks in advance for your time and consideration.

Here’s a couple.
Numista: Good info on world coins.

Portland Coins: Good site when trying to ID a world coin with plenty of pics.

Have you heard of an outfit called Feebay or Fleecebay or similar.
I am fairly sure you find your coin there.
Current values are best determined by recent auction results. Heritage, Stack's Bowers and the bay have sold listings for you to research.
Britain didn't make a "75th Anniversary shilling from 1900". I'm not sure if what you have is a medal of some kind, or perhaps an engraved shilling. Need pics.
And of course you're welcome to post pics on the forum of anything you can't identify, or isn't listed in the catalogues.
For everything else, there's the Krause world coin catalogues. You can find Krause prices on their own NumisMaster website:
numismaster.com
Or on the NGC World Coin Prices database (which is mostly copy-and-pasted from Krause):

You could always buy or borrow the actual books, if that's more your thing.

Apparently I have been awarded one DPOTD.
For Canada, these are retail prices:
