You did say cheap and they don't come cheaper than these @Kkathyl
It would take a huge pile of these together to pay for my lunch in Havana this week.
A Cuban who was showing me around Habana Vieja dug deep into his man bag to find them to give to me.

It’s amazing the artwork behind some of these coins. And the US mint can’t make a tin penny at break even. The Tinny they now produce last about a month tops.
We are finally getting down to the bottom of my coin boxes. Great experience. Step to follow is better organized and assure all marked with KM numbers.

Havana is an incredibly diverse city - loved my time spent there! Enjoy yourself!
There is a lot to be said for "cheap n' cheerfuls".
This 1972 F.A.O. issue Tanzanian 5-shilingi piece cost me around 5-10 cents- maybe a quaryer, tops- since it was in a big bulk lot I bought.
Though it catalogs for a mere $2.50 In MS63, it's a keeper. In fact, I liked it enough to spend the 40 bucks or so to send it off to PCGS. It is there now. I should have a grade and TrueView pretty soon.
The universal reasons to like this coin:
It's pretty big.
It has a cool decagonal (10-sided) shape.
The design is appealing and quintessentially African.
It's a pretty nice example for the type.
My personal reasons to like this coin:
Nostalgia. We lived in Tanzania for a year when I was a child.
The coin is dated 1972, the year my family lived there.
The first allowance I ever received was one of these coins per week.
If my memories are correct, I could buy a model airplane kit with one of these.
That's a lot of joy in a coin that's barely worth three bucks.
Today we looked at a few and here is and interesting doubling on Republic of Colombia 1978 10 centavos. They are know for overdates but doubling and large dates in some add premiums
Thank you @Kkathyl I am hoping that some acetone will improve the Rand.
Over the last two years I have been enjoying making the occasional couple of buys from world junk bins. I have a small growing, eclectic collection that I find myself being proud of considering how modest my budget is for such purchases. There is not much of an avenue to " show them off" but they do fit in this thread quite well.
you and I both like the adventure and the collecting part of the world coins. I was so excited to get my new World coin book yesterday that I cut my fingure and bleed all over it. Good thing they have a coated cover. Hey if anyone tries to take it I will have DNA evidience to point at.

I love those Portuguese 50c. I don't think that's a proof, but it's a beauty.
Coins with special memories are the best. The Tanzania piece is very nice. Peace Roy

Get those checked for authenticity. Maybe it's just the lighting in the photo, but they look questionable to me.
