Hey PCGS, can you explain this?

So, my six coin submission arrived at PCGS on April 19 at 11:45am. However, the system shows it as "received" on April 29th.
That's ten days of empty air. What gives? Does it really take ten days to process a submission?
Just curious me...

Apparently. It does.
Why not contact them directly and ask?

Well, between Apr 19 and 29 there were two weekends, so really that's only 5 days.

I had the same problem back in February. Mine probably sat in some huge canvas container on wheels for about 2 weeks before someone pulled it out and checked it in.

I’ve found when there is a major show somewhere there is a slight change in the timeline. Also, when there is a release of something that people want slabbed.
Was there something in the last couple of week?

Contact PCGS Customer Service directly, tell them the submission # and they'll make sure it gets entered into the system I'm sure.
Posting this and calling PCGS out on this does you no good.
Good points all, thanks.
But, I'm not "calling" PCGS out. They actually do a dang good job considering the amount of coins they receive.
I asked the question inquiring of others their experiences. I suppose my point is if the packaged arrived on the 19th, and it's first in first out, then it should be "received" as the 19th, not the 29th. Perhaps it's the definition of "Received".
Snapshot of what it says in the app.
I assume the USPS tracking told you it was delivered (picked up) on the 19th?
And the new "Find my package" feature indicated that it was received on the 29th?

Next time write "Express" on the package per above.
Thanks, I believe I will. Guess it was all my bad, sorry guy's and PCGS!!!

this isn't a new problem or an uncommon one, I have gotten used to it.
I'm sorry i didn't mean it that way. It really comes down to what amount of time is reasonable for PCGS to hold on to product before receiving it in.
Is ten days too long? Probably. The FIFO process is likely usually followed, but not always. With so many packages a few are likely to be sitting a lot longer than they should.
Whenever you are dissatisfied with the service, you are entitled to voice your opinion, here or to PCGS CS. That way they know some of their pain-points and are in tune to what matters to their clients.
Happened to me a few time sounds about right. The good news is the coins were receipted and not lost in the mail. Any day now they will show up in your account file and all is good!
I stop sweating when my submission is 'received.'

For sure! I am happy that they receive them and not "lost" in the mail.
Maybe after 4/20 it just seemed like 10 days

The Central States coin show was going on that week. Since PCGS was grading at the show and thus had a large contingent of staff with them, I can understand the delay.
Chill out grasshopper,,,,,,,,, good things come to those who wait.
To avoid any unwanted wait times. I just send mine in a week earlier
I hear Chuck Norris gets his grades before he sends his coins in, and they frequently grade MS71.

Oddity:
This issue addressed to PCGS yet everyone but PCGS responds to answer.

Hi All,
Here is the official answer: PCGS typically takes 2-4 business days to enter a package (meaning that the delivered piece of mail is opened and the submission entered into the system). This time can take longer based on an influx of delivered packages- for the original poster, it took 5 business days- the 4 weekend days don't count.
M-F 7am-5pm PST. We have been staffing up, so our response times have be improving!
We do ask that you write the Service Level on the outside of the box. For expedited services (Express, Walkthrough, etc), this helps us open and enter the package quickly, to better meet the short turnaround time.
The best way to get answers to your submission questions, is to call Customer Service! We are here for you

@CSMgr I have been told by multiple USPS employees not to write Express on the outside of a package unless it’s express mail. One even gave me the option, I could either cross it out or pay up for the service! Since then I haven’t been labeling my express orders, which probably slows them down
Write "EX" instead on USPS.

Cool, that should work. Thanks Brett.
LOL..and don't forget to write "Rare coins inside" on the outside of the package also.
