Rich as Croesus?

I saw this Lydian stater sold for $90,000 at a recent Heritage auction:

The same email heralding the auction results said a rare 1964 SMS Kennedy half sold for $108,000. I know I'm asking for a flame war from the US Coin Forum folks, but examples like this of condition rarity vs absolute rarity make my head spin.

    Incidentally, the Croesus stater was "expensive" for the type but I agree that it's all relative. I certainly prefer the coin dripping with history but I'm glad that we don't all collect the same way.
