Ebay guaranteed delivery.

What happens if you inform Ebay when your purchase doesn't arrive on the guaranteed date?
It bugs me when the word guaranteed is used loosely BUT I don't want to be that guy if it hurts the seller, especially if it's just a day or two late.

Who guaranteed the delivery date? The seller? The post office? eBay?
Inquiring minds want to know.

From that link, eBay is guaranteeing delivery on First Class packages. FWIW, the post office makes no guarantee on such shipments.
Yes, I understand that and thanks.
I did my homework and read up on it.
I was wondering if any buyers here have done it and if there is any benefit.
I was also wondering if any sellers here had any input.
Does the seller get a message saying "sparky64 bitched because the package was late and your punishment will be forthcoming because he whined".

Seller's input? My eBay preferences are set to "No" for Guaranteed Delivery, but it shows on all my listings. I haven't heard a peep about it yet, from either a buyer or from eBay.
It's a bunch of BS. I bought from a participating seller who was supposed to deliver in 3 days but took 7 days just to get it to the post office. I left him a well deserved neg and eBay removed it. I griped to eBay and they agreed with me but wouldn't reinstate my feedback or do anything else about it.
This was prior to the above linked 2019 update.
Great transactions with oih82w8, JasonGaming, Moose1913.

No harm to the seller as long as shipped within stated handling time. Ebay knows many will not whine if it is late and those who do get $5 off the next purchase.
I ship within the stated handling time, but a fair number of those shipments do not qualify for tracking (First Class letter), so eBay has no idea when they were mailed, aside from all the "fast shipping" feedback I get.
I suspect you get the cost of your free shipping back
I just checked my lists all said guaranteed by certain day. It is not guaranteed by me for sure I did not even know about this until I read this thread.
It's a free service offered by eBay for sellers (like me!
) with stellar shipping records. I never hear or see anything related to the guarantee. I don't do anything to offer it. It's a nice little perk
I just had one that never arrived... I queried the seller a week after due date... (I did have a tracking number..it got as far as NJ).. and he checked with the Post Office... Lost... He refunded my money immediately. Cheers, RickO
I shipped a package the day after the auction. Package was mailed to CA. The P.O. sent the package to OR. They tried to deliver it to an address in Oregon five times, remember, it was being sent to California. It took 3 weeks to finally be delivered. Sometimes things are just out of the seller's control.

I don’t care about that as long as I get my item in a reasonable time nor do my customers. I have one supplier a large shop flipping walk-in purchases they may not be processing shipments on weekends. Big deal so what - not a problem for me. As for me, I ship promptly (drop off parcel at PO) within 24 hrs of payment. Buyers who don’t have a broken finger or brain dead can track USPS shipments assuming the seller inputs tracking.
Everybody knows (where the elevator goes to the top) that it’s USPS who is the main player in this.

Doesn't matter. eBay is making the guarantee not the seller
Bought shipping supplies recently and the package didn't arrive by the guaranteed date. Got a $5 credit from Ebay. Not a ding on the seller as it was shipped in time.
