A Morgan Slabbed In An Early Clunker!
I recently purchased this 1884-O Morgan for $74 through a local auction. The slabbing service was United States Numismatic Services. This particular coin was graded by the service in 1985, and the slab measures "7 3/8 L x "4 3/8 W. The Morgan is sandwiched between a 1/4 inch of Plexiglas. The coin appears to be close to MS65 quality IMO, with semi-pl obverse, and full pl reverse.
The only other early slab I have that's Plexiglas is from The United States Numismatic Arts Foundation which is a 1987 slabbed coin. Both firms from California, not sure if related.
Here is the Morgan

I’ve seen pictures of that grading service before, but not a ton of info.
When someone posted one in 2015, even Conder wasn’t aware of it!
I believe @BStrauss3 might have one too (and might know something about it).
Definitely a cool find for the price and it appears to hold a nice coin (which is always a bonus for an oddball slab).

Thanks for additional info @U1chicago, I'll post this ATS and see if Conder has anything new.
Good shot at 66 PL.Nice looking coin.
Nice 64+pl really frosty great pickup!!
The address is a strip mall, where strangely each business had a unique street address. It's now some kind of lifestyle boutique. Given the #106, it was probably a mailbox place back in the day.

Conder101 posted (in 2005) that it was new to him.
Worthpoint has a handful that have been sold, but I don't have a subscription...

It's not very common. I have only seen one other, registered to the same company. Neat stuff.

66 I think
Wonder if Mr. Charville would let Conder 101 back. IIRC he was part of the purge that snared Mark Feld.
Maybe things have changed, but last I read Conder didn’t want to be brought back.
A very nice semi-prooflike Morgan, I would give it a solid 64.
A box of 20 of those would be difficult to cart around.
that's sharp looking. I like
She's pretty cheeky.
That is a nice looking Morgan, and a unique holder... I have not seen that one. I must have missed it if one has been shown here before....Cheers, RickO
I bought one a couple years ago from my local dealer who took it in with a bunch of misc. junk . It came back from PCGS as a 65, as this outfit graded it. I still have the original holder somewhere.
Capitol Plastics made those holders for housing the old ANACS certificates and the coin they described. I used one to display the cent that my wife received in change almost 23 years ago.
