I remember watching "21" and "The $64,000 Question" when I was in grade school. The scandal was big news when it broke.

I've been watching it every day I can. They recently had a catagory called "High Denominations" You have to name who is on the note.

    The dude is super smart.

    Later, Paul.

I remember the Charles Van Doren scandal.... soured everyone on quiz shows for a while... then they slowly came back. I do not watch them, no time, or interest, in such programming....Too many other things to do that are fun. Cheers, RickO

    Were there any coin questions?

Dont know if it was part of his recent run of success but a few weeks ago I caught part of a question mentioning "A coin with a mirror image."

    No one got it....DOH!

I've watched a few. His strategy is start with the higher valued questions and not to stick in one category then bet high on the Doubles. Where others in the past would wager small amounts he often bets all in on these and seems to win most of them. He seems to end each game by winning about $90,000 to $130,000. His opponents are just stunned within 5 minutes into the game. Some of the trivia he knows is quite impressive.

He's also extremely quick on buzzing in. His opponents don't even have a chance to buzz in and answer a question. He still has a long way to go to beat Ken Jennings all time winnings record. I'm rooting for him.

I’ve seen every show and he is incredible. His breadth of knowledge is awe inspiring. I feel sorry for the other contestants since they are quickly out matched.

The contestant is a professional gambler/blackjack player...plus he has memorized the historical placement odds of the daily double categories on the board (the lower left quadrant historically holds most of the DDs). He essentially blows through the high $$$ categories first and then bets very big money on the three daily doubles. He's also very smart and very disciplined.

I'm surprised another contestant didn't hit on this system sooner. He's going to break the all-time winning record of Ken Jennings (roughly $2 million) in record time!

  • koynekwestkoynekwest Posts: 10,048 ✭✭✭✭✭

I don't think he hit a single daily double today and still won big.
