Pcgs ms60 barber half on eBay, what is going on with her nose?

eBay item 153436644520

It looks like she has two nostrils, or is this some kind of doubling?

Here is one from Heritage Archives with similar nose, also apparent doubling of lips & chin. I'll poke around more later. Hopefully you can zoom this image.

There's a better image on the listing and I now think the nose is just an unfortunate hit. See the other bad nicks in the area.

Several other Heritage proof examples have the apparent doubling but I don't know if it's known, just an artifact of striking them twice, or maybe just the images.

Guilford Coin on ebay is selling that one: https://www.ebay.com/itm/1912-barber-half-dollar-PCGS-Old-Holder-MS60-0624-/153436644520

Looks like a problem coin, with PVC, etc.. I bought an expensive coin from them a few years ago that turned out to be a nightmare trying to get conserved, in a PCGS old holder.

Whatever. This looks like an MS60 at best that has found its eternal tomb. Pass. I give it brown stinky bean sticker.

It is a big hit on the nose. face hits are bad, but nose gouges are the kiss of death. For Barbers, the 1912 and 1912-D are two of the most common dates. If they aren't near perfect, making you breakfast in the morning and cleaning your garage on Saturdays...you pass.

I gotta agree with ARCO. Looks to me like she took some pretty good hits to the tip of the nose, lip, cheek and in front of the nose.

    Rocking my "shiny-object-syndrome"!!!
