Do TPGs Use Cheat Sheets?

ilmcoinsilmcoins Posts: 525 ✭✭✭✭

I am an avid user of Photograde but I am curious if TPGs use similar "cheat sheets" which may also include details on years with weak strikes, etc.? I can't imagine that someone could memorize all details for all coins to be considered.

I would believe graders used notes (cheat sheets) in their learning years....many jobs do this in all professions....after years of experience, the knowledge becomes embedded in the mind.... Of course, special issues may require a 'refreshment' when they come along.... Cheers, RickO

In addition to notes and other available reference materials the graders can always consult other graders to get a second opinion on those rare occasions they see something unusual.

I'd say they would have to have a list of known minor changes on coins that have small dates, types of arrows, etc.

While it was a long time ago (1991-1998), I don’t recall any such notes when I was at NGC.
