    Something is wrong...

    Where’s the mercury dime?

    Post the reverses, too.

Since it’s your Dad’s put them in 2x2’s and keep them as family treasures.

    Coin Facts for comparison:

  • @hemispherical the dime isn't posted, will post at another time. But what is "wrong" ?

The 1909 and 1863 cents are pitted and corroded. They may have been that way when you dad saved them, or they may have gotten that way because of improper storage. At any rate, it can’t be reversed.

The 1861 quarter appears to have been cleaned, but it’s hard to say for sure because the photo is over exposed. Overall I would say that you have some keepsakes that more valuable as mementoes than collectors’ items.

I am also collecting at least one coin for each Roman emperor from Julius Caesar to ... ?

Can you NOT enhance the images? I think the damage people are seeing is just your attempt to enhance the images.

Ignoring, odd varieties, there's only one "rare" mercury dime (1916-D) and "rare" overstates it. It is also one of the two most commonly faked U.S. coins in existence so either post it for us to evaluate or send it to PCGS to evaluate. 75% of them are fake

  • @jmlanzaf images are NOT enhanced. But thanks for the scolding!

That wasn't a scolding. Those identical wormy marks look like an artifact of image processing. If they are actually on both cents, those are some truly ugly coins.

The reticulated pattern visible in all three photos is produced by excessive image compression and attempts by your phone's software to "improve" the photos. If you tell your phone to save images in TIFF format, this will go away, and members here can help you understand the coins you posted.

Also, please post good photos of both sides.
