PCGS Submission Question

Stupid

When sending in a couple of gold coins from the US Mint, can or should these be left in the mint issued capsules? It appears that PCGS wants them in the standard mylar flips per the submission procedures on their website, but I am hesitant to take a proof AGE out of the capsule and get it into a flip. I can see bad things happening from me on this.

Anyone know for sure?

You can send them in the OGP for modern era coins. If you want the OGP returned then state you want the OGP returned in the comment section. Recommend the use of a a different colored ink, too.

There is what PCGS prefers (coins in mylar flips) and what PCGS accepts (almost anything). I think they draw the line at coins in lucite.

As long is it isn't onerous to remove, PCGS, like the other TPG's, tolerates any holder.

I'd leave them in the mint capsules and put the capsules in the flips.

There is a certain amount of risk when transferring proof gold from mint holder to a flip.... Put the capsule in a flip (as recommended above) and avoid the risk...Cheers, RickO
