Slab question

SimpleCollectorSimpleCollector Posts: 536 ✭✭✭✭✭

Saw this coin, and considering it for the price. Was looking at the slab from the photo I took, and it seemed not questionable, but surprised no logo...limited research on web, seems likely legit, and I would look at back...curious if this is a much older slab, and thoughts...and as I post occasionally, I like cheap generic old gold like this....

Should always look up the cert; it’s there for a reason. Assuming the numbers after the dash is 001.

    NGC Cert #
    292213-001
    NGC Description
    1882 $10
    NGC Grade
    MS 62

    https://www.ngccoin.com/certlookup/292213-001/62/

    Or, if it’s -003

    NGC Cert #
    292213-003
    NGC Description
    1894 $10
    NGC Grade
    MS 62

    https://www.ngccoin.com/certlookup/292213-003/62/

Hate when the cert is covered.

Tom, thanks... my limited research indicated old...and hemi..., I did try all of the cert possibilities and saw that it was likely accurate, utx I wasn’t comfortable that it couldn’t be fake...even at melt, it’s not an insignificant purchase for me....it is a trusted local shop, but I heard even shops can be fooled. Figured I would check...

So for fun, and to show types of stuff I find while on the hunt, here is another coin I liked...slab also seems a lilttle scarce too....unfortunately, I likely don’t have funds for this one...but any thoughts are appreciated..,

Once again thanks for the education

For the 1894, agree with @rte592.

1895 is on the upper end of the auctions listed in Coin Facts. https://www.pcgs.com/coinfacts/coin/1895-20/9027

The 1894 appears to be a reasonable price..... depends on the reverse.... If you buy it, show us here. Cheers, RickO

Nice NGC "tiny serial number" slab.

    Nice Engelhard bar as well.

So as you can see, I bought the $10, I also bought the 10 oz bar, I did not buy the double eagle... the dealer previously had that 1895 and also a 1904... one had sold over the last two days, and as I have a nice double eagle, I wasn’t in a rush to add it...however, this $5 was there today. It looked nice in hand , but the pic doesn’t show as well...I show this for others under ...the types of generic gold I see and some prices for people’s reference...
