Sorry about the late post.

I arrived very late Thursday night. 6 hour drive from central CT to Kingston. Upstate NY is pitch black - felt like I was in a tunnel from Pulaski to the border.

Friday started with picking up my Registration kit that contained 3 (silver, bronze, bright brass) ONA convention medals along with some other trinkets.

The doors opened to the public at noon but registrants were able to go in at 10. Many empty tables as there was confusion as to setup time for the dealers (many thought setup was at 10). Attendance was light. Made my 1st pass around the bourse. Checked out the 10 displays. The 3 best, IMHO, were:
1. Security Features on Canadian Decimal Coins. Later learned this display was created by a 9 yo. Well done.
2. Pedigrees Found. This display featured several PCGS pop top key date 10 cents from various collections where the pedigree was lost - now part of the Crowe Lake collection: https://www.pcgs.com/setregistry/canadian-federation/canadian-ten-cents/canadian-victoria-ten-cents-varieties-circulation-strikes-1858-1901/alltimeset/123200 with pedigrees restored. Interesting use of mirrors to display the reverses.
3. Spanish Civil War encased postage stamp currency.

Attended the educational seminars which included topics such as:
1. The History of Polymer and/or Hybrid Notes, 1980 to date. 94 countries have issued or are issuing such notes. Here are 2 examples:

2. The selection and design process of the new Canadian $10 polymer note featuring Viola Desmond and the Canadian Human Rights Museum.
   

3. Interpreting the legends on UK coinage from Victoria to Elizabeth II.

Back to the bourse where I picked up some proof 1 cents for friend and a couple of pieces for my hoard. Then off to dinner with 3 buddies including fellow board member SPP at The Kingston Brew Company restaurant. Excellent variety of BBQ. Great food, great camaraderie, great fun.

Saturday started a bit slow. Made it to the bourse around 10:30. A few more dealers were there. Heard later that bad weather west of Toronto prevented a couple from setting up. But nice weather in Kingston about 55°F. Lots of people out and about but not many came to the show.

Found two nice early 20th century medals.
The 1st by Birks from 1934 for the 300th Anniversary of the founding of Trois Rivieres (Three Rivers) Quebec in 1634.

The 2nd by Herbert honoring The Patriotes Canadiens 1837-1838 issued in 1925.

Attended a couple of club meetings:
Canadian Association of Token Collectors (CATC) - dedicated to collecting all types of tokens used / issued in Canada from pre-confederation to store cards to communion to bread/milk/etc of the mid 20th century.
Canadian Centennial Collectors Club (CCCC) - dedicated to collecting the tokens/medals and other items related to Canada's centennial year of 1967.

One more tour of the bourse where I picked up a nice $2 note in PCGS 66PPQ with the 2018 RCNA Toronto emblem.

Finished the day at the ONA convention dinner where the guest speaker told the story of the rise and fall and rise again history of Kingston. To summarize, Kingston was to be the original capital of the United Colonies of Canada. Land was acquired, surveyed, and buildings erected for government. The war of 1812 led to concerns of invasion so the capital was moved to Montreal and later to Ottawa. Today, Kingston is home to Canada's Military College and the largest of it's federal prisons.

Another evening of camaraderie.

Next year the convention will be in Burlington - some 30 miles west of Toronto.
