On pace for 141 wins.
Just saying...it could happen!

Always looking for original, better date VF20-VF35 Barber quarters and halves, and a quality beer.

Twins are at .800 WATCHOUT!
When I saw .875 i thought you may have been talking about Bryce Harper's batting average.
Sadly, he is only batting a meager .429 with only 3 home runs. But I think he will snap out of this slump.
The M's have beat some very good times so far, also....A's and Angels.
Mariners just blew threw the red sox.
George Brett, Roger Clemens and Tommy Brady.
There is a cure for pennant fever in April, it’s called a 162 Game Season 😂
it is extremely early. look for the Twins to enter October around .525 and Harper at the same time to be around .275 and 30.
Harper will not keep up this pace. he is a historically streaky player. He has had one great full year to this point in his career.
George Brett, Roger Clemens and Tommy Brady.
Don't underestimate Bryce Harper this season. He looks like he's out there on a mission and so far he is fulfilling it.
It could be. I hope he has a great season. I will, however, look at his considerable backlog of work and base projections on that.
George Brett, Roger Clemens and Tommy Brady.
Your reasoning is logical.
Remember though, this wasn't some free agent in his early 30's. Harper is only 26 years old, and under the dietary and physical tutelage of Gabe Kapler, I believe his upside is greater than that of his MVP season.
Wait until he starts playing in the warmer weather when the ball just flies out of CBP. May not many more homers but definitely more than a couple. A lot of those line drives he hits will just carry right on out of the park.
Yet still the only MLB team to never get in the World Series...just like Thomas Dewey or William Jennings Bryan...always a bridesmaid but never a bride.

In Seattle, we'd be happy to be a bridesmaid!
Dave
just like the Minnesota Vikings (in the modern 1970-present era)
not true.
under the dietary and physical tutelage of Gabe Kapler
Harper has been preparing himself to be a MLB player since he was in junior high. There is absolutely nothing Gabe Kapler will be telling him that he doesn't already know or has tried. Harper had some amazing April starts to seasons in Washington as well, they didn't always continue and it has nothing to due to dietary and physical tutelage.
APR2013
.344 avg, .430 OBP, 9 HR, 18 RBI, 1.150 OPS
APR2015
.286 avg, .440 OBP, 5 HR, 15 RBI, .985 OPS
APR2016
.286 avg, .406 OBP, 9 HR, 24 RBI, 1.121 OPS
APR2018
.391 avg .509 OBP 9 HR, 26 RBI, 1.281 OPS
I like Harper so I hope he has an MVP caliber season but your zaniness and attempts to use correlation as causation always crack me up Stevek.

<<< There is absolutely nothing Gabe Kapler will be telling him that he doesn't already know or has tried. >>>
How could you possibly know that? That's a figment of your imagination similar to Alice in Wonderland.
But your comments are no surprise, coming from a genius who hasn't figured out yet how to upload an avatar. 🤣
M’s are down to .846%. The struggle is real.
Dave
Oh they did make it in 1973, 1974, and 1976 (plus 1969 in the pre-modern era)...sorry! I stand corrected!

I guess I can see what you mean, seeing as how if it hadn't been for your 1995 AL Runner-Up finish with that iconic piling on Griffey at the end of the ALDS, you might have lost the Mariners as well as the Sonics Sadly that came at the expense of my boyhood idol Don Mattingly (from nearby Evansville).

if Seattle can't figure out how to win at home the season will be very long and the basement will soon come up to meet them. they are doing well on the road but when mid-season rolls around and the trips to the East start to pile up that will change.
The M's bullpen is certified dog crap. Scrap heap guys, with no closer. Thus, we need 8 runs a game to keep this going!
Go M's !!!
Dave
Didn't the M's win 116 games one year?
Collecting 1970s Topps baseball wax, rack and cello packs, as well as PCGS graded Half Cents, Large Cents, Two Cent pieces and Three Cent Silver pieces.
still about a week left in April and Seattle is no longer blistering the League, now sitting at .615 and heading for .500. I suppose optimism always runs high early in the season.
We're gonna win Twins, we're gonna score.
We're gonna win Twins, watch that baseball soar.
Knock out a Home Run, shout a HIP HOORAY!
Cheer for the Minnesota Twins TO DAY!
and the slide continues with a 2-1 walk-off in Cleveland. the "M's" now sitting at 18-16(.529) with the very real possibility of leaving town at .500 on May 5th. quite a dramatic turnabout after an early April run. I don't hold much hope for a sweep with the Indians pitching woes, three of the starting five opening day starters are on the Injury List. the latest being Corey Kluber with a right arm fracture after taking a 120mph comebacker last week!!! Ouch.
TWINS! Byron Buxton appears to be the finest defensive outfielder out there! Must also be the fastest player in MLB as well.
🧐
the slide continues a little sooner than I would have anticipated. yes, MLB is a Marathon and not a sprint but there is a lot of season left for Seattle to recover.
Twins are in a weak division and Cleveland is banged up, they don't have to be great to win this division.
Berrios looks to be a good/great pitcher and Odorizzi is pitching well.
Cleveland is in for some tough sledding with their injured pitchers. they have been quiet about the injury to Kluber and it wouldn't surprise me to see him miss most of the season. the same Clevinger, out with a back injury. right now Bauer is the best pitcher and the stopper while Carrasco is OK but the guy has been hit, like Kluber, about 3-4 times in the last few years. it's very weird.
everyone talks about the batter and the pitched ball, at least they have a little time to react. these pitchers get hit by balls traveling in excess of 100mph(Kluber's was 120mph) while they are in the act of following through, off-balance and very vulnerable. it is remarkable more MLB pitchers aren't badly injured by batted balls.
Harmon Killebrew often said that Herb Score was the hardest thrower he ever saw.
Twins win again :-)
Herb Score had the potential for a HOF career, his future was that bright. it all ended in a heartbeat and after being struck by a batted ball he was never really the same. he did, however, go on to be a most excellent play-by-play announcer for the Indians. I grew up listening to him in our driveway with my dad on a little transistor radio, then as an adult we'd turn off the TV volume and listen to Herb.
and Seattle has reached the plateau at .500 in NYC.
Sadly, he is only batting a meager .429 with only 3 home runs. But I think he will snap out of this slump.
only a month later and Harper's at .231 and 7.
Twins are at .667, allowed 1 run in the last four games!
the Twins are surely hot right now but their pace seems unsustainable, several guys are having career years. in reality they only need to play .590 and they'll carry the division. their only certain competition is Cleveland and with the Indians injuries I doubt they can contend: two starters out and a third with a history that says he will soon join them. if Minnesota can hold out the division lead till the All-Star break they should be OK.
oh, BTW, the M's got hammered by Boston as the predicted East Coast trip is taking its toll. they are now 1-1/2 games out of the basement and it's not even mid-May.
The Twins have a good chance to win the division. I am NOT thinking they will continue to win at this pace.
Their starting pitching should be fine if no one gets injured. Buxton FINALLY playing well, Rosario has been good for a couple of years. Most of the rest of the everyday guys look solid to above average.
It will be interesting to see if Sano can get into, and stay in, the lineup.
Hopefully Garver & Cruz aren't out too long and get healthy.
Sano back will help, Buxton is sure looking good!
The Twinkies are legit!
Dave
Who ARE these guys? C. J. Cron and Jonathon Schoop.
they are guys whose names I have heard because we play Minnesota 19 times each year. Schoop is a good player who looks to have busted out, Cron not so much. the Twins are legit so far but it's a long haul and as long as the Indians are hangin' around with the injuries they've had nothing is clear-cut and dried. one two week slump could change everything.
let's see how it looks at the All-Star break.
meanwhile, the Seattle Mariners are making me look like an MLB savant, having correctly predicted their fall to a sub-.500 basement dweller after a trip through the far East. they are on their way home now where they don't play very well so it will be a long season for their fans.
Yes, the All-Star break will be a good time to see who has a good chance of winning the division.
Another 8 HR game yesterday for the Twins!
I find it amusing that a thread about the M's hot start has been hijacked and morphed into a thread about the Twinkies. I personally don't mind that it has occurred, as I enjoy the insight and banter from fans of all teams... carry on.
I guess I "hijacked" the thread. I was just commenting that the Twins were playing ,800 ball at the time too.
Mariners are at .422 and in last place.
Twins are (surprisingly) at .673 and in first place.
The Twins have the best record in baseball. Their fans have every reason, and every right, to talk loud and proud about their success. I have no problem with that at all. I was just commenting that it makes me chuckle to see the new post notation on this thread with the M's hot start in the title, and then when I check in, all of the comments are about the Twins. As long as they're hammering homers and putting the beatdown on the rest of the league, Twins fans should be expected to show their excitement.
M's are on the verge of a 18-2 run. I can feel it in my loins.
